Access America Travel Insurance Co. They did not pay a claim that they said was covered under the policy Richmond Virginia

We were vacationing in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and were scheduled to depart for home (Atlanta, Ga.) on January 2, 2009. Our flight was cancelled due to weather conditions. The first flight we could get out was from Idaho Falls, Idaho, January 4, 2009. We were forced to rent a car and drive to Idaho and spend 2 nights in a hotel. We incurred extra expenses we had not planned on spending (over $1,000.00) and 3 of us missed work on Monday, January 5, 2009 because we had to drive home to North Carolina after arriving late in Atlanta Sunday night. We had purchased travel insurance from Access America.

In the books we were sent, it stated on page 6 that: Your airline, cruise line, or tour operator or travel supplier stops offering all services for at least 24 consecutive hours where you're departing, arriving or making a connection because of: severe weather. (Our trip was cancelled for 48 hours.)


However, when submitting our receipts and proof from Delta that the flight was cancelled, we were denied any reimbursement from Access America. I would like to know what advantage it is to purchase flight insurance if the claims are going to be denied. I am also surprised and disappointed that Delta would recommend such a company to purchase insurance from. I looked on the Rippoff.com website and it appears that others have also been denied similar claims. I will also make a comment on this website and hopefully others will see it and definitely not use this company for travel insurance. I will also send my information to the Better Business Bureau regarding this company. Hopefully if enough people see these websites, they won't spend their money on such a worthless insurance policy.
