This company on their website claims to represent over 100 carriers. First of all this is ridiculous, there are really only about 40 very competitive carriers in America. They actually represent the following carriers on a regular basis:

Genworth
Transamerica
Prudential
American General
Reliastar
Liberty
West Coast

They use a couple other carriers for immediate issue, but this is irrelevant when speaking of the most competitive rates. They also carry Lincoln Benefit but only for large cases. They are not 'objective' as they state since they often have contests and incentive's to sell certain carriers.

This same claim could be made against Intelliquote, whom claims they quote over 250 carriers.

It would be more advantageous to simply give your business to a local financial planner who operates through a Brokerage General Agency.

It's true AccuQuote is a SPAM king

AUTHOR: Carl Pickens - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, December 05, 2010

AccuQuote does provide a valid service, but the comment above regarding spyware is just one case of AccuQuote spitting on the internet. Here is a picture from spamreg showing many of the subject lines and received times on many Accuquote spam messages.

I was shopping for life insurance a month ago and I was speaking to both Accuquote and YourLifeSolution.com, when I asked the agent at YourLifeSolution.com why I should use his service instead of Accuquote, one of the few reasons he gave was that he never spams or pays others to.  That's where my money goes, to those who don't assault my inbox!

We can compare 100+ life insurance carriers

AUTHOR: Accuquote - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 03, 2008

We apologize if you or anyone else thinks this advertisement is misleading. While we understand your concern, we'd like to reiterate that the advertisement in question is factually true. We monitor the rates of 100+ companies and never claimed to represent hundreds of companies as you stated previously in this report.

We appreciate you taking your time to point out that this message in this advertisement, while factually true, may seem a bit misleading. It has never been our intention to mislead consumers. We will be sure to reword this message in a way that maintains our brand and what it stands for - providing the best possible customer service by finding the best product at the best price.

HERE IS THE EXACT QUOTE FROM THEIR ADVERTISEMENT CLAIMING THEY REPRESENT 100+ companies

AUTHOR: Trent Lagoria - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 20, 2008

The claim that AQ represents over 100 carriers is right in one of their ads(link below) Yes, it is true that quoting so many carriers would be arbitrary, that wasnt my point. My point is that AQ pretends to have some sort of absolute objectivity in the marketplace. Bottom line, they lie by saying they represent over 100 carriers. To even say they "compare" the rates of over 100 is bogus since their site doesnt show those companies.

HERE IS A LINK TO A PIC OF ONE OF THEIR ADS

ALSO THE COMPANY HAS IN FACT BEEN SUED FOR PUTTING SPYWARE INTO COMPUTERS

Give your money to a company that doesnt put malware in other's computers. I would suggest SBLI Savings Bank Life Insurance. Sbli.com They're are usually going to have lower rates. They're in fact an A+ company, so no, giving a company with a lower price doesn't mean getting less financial stability.

We do not AND never have claimed that we "represent hundreds of companies"....

AUTHOR: Accuquote - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, October 11, 2008

I think it is important to note the difference between what we claim which is the fact that we "monitor the rates of hundreds of companies" and the claim made in this report (which we do NOT make anywhere on our website) which is that we "represent" hundreds of companies.

In fact, on our About Us Page, it states: "In 1986 we began operating with a single goal: to make the process of buying term life insurance as easy as possible for our customers. Our experienced professionals consistently deliver the most affordable term life insurance rates by comparing thousands of life insurance policies from dozens of top-rated carriers."

If anyone has any questions or would like to know the companies that we represent, please call us at 800-442-9899. Thanks.

Not quite true

Accuquote represents more than those companies above including their affiliates which is where some of those companies come from. For example AIG owns both American General and US Life. As for the claim of selling over 100 carriers, I have never seen or heard that claim anywhere on the actual site. Even with any contests which are far and few between, those hold very little bearing on how much of that specific carrier they will sell or cater more toward, it does not necessarily equate that they are trying to rip anyone off. The focus is still and always has been about saving customers on life insurance.

On top of that local brokers or financial planners must also research companies with strong financial standing and reputation. There are many companies that offer life insurance but with a failing economy, would you really sell a product whose financial rating and stability is par? They can make your premiums $3 lower per month than a far more reputable company like Genworth but I'm pretty sure that's not giving your customers what they deserve.
