I used Acushield Financial/Fresh Start America for 3 years. I paid them every month (directly from my checking account) on time every month. I sent in my statements, letters, etc. It started out fine. Then once I started receiving summons to appear in court for the companies I owed to collect their money, Acushield Financial was no where to be found! They finally settled one of my accounts after months of me pestering them to do so! I finally got tired of the whole thing and cancelled my account with them. That was March 4, 2008. I was told it would take 60 business days to review my account and then a check would be sent to me for the amount in my account with them (roughly $2300), pending any fees that I might still owe them. What those fees would be I don't know (the first $1500 I paid them was their fees!!!!). So, now I call all the time, leave messages with different people and never get a returned call from any of them. It's my money and I would like it to pay off the debts that I still have since they can't seem to do their job.
I don't know what else to do but seek legal advice and help to get my money back. My warning to everyone is: If you're in debt, don't go to a company to help you, call the creditors yourself and work something out with them. It's less painful to you in the end.

Refund check received, how about you?

I entered a report after yours. Burned by AcuShield is my title. I kept up with phone calls to AcuShield. We were gone from 24th of July to the 29th. Our refund check came after we left and was dated July 16th. That was date of one of my calls to the paralegal representing them. Came by regular mail. Was supposed to come via DHL. Don't care. At least we did get it. However, they had $10,000 of our money from April, 2007 until now and ate up $429 for what? I sent them check for three months of fees at $39 each for $156. Subtracting that means the remaining fees amounted to $351. I am through with them. Everyone beware! Wondering if you received your refund as you seem to have been at it as long as I was.
