Firstly, please accept my thanks for enabling us to use this forum as an opportunity to tell the readers what the majority of customers think of us.

As you can see here: http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Adorama our customer feedback at resellerratings is 9.62/10. Not quite yet a perfect 10 but headed in the right direction!

And here is some feedback from customers relating to Helen Oster, Customer Service Ambassador, from May 1st to July 31st 2011

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=12514930#post12514930

I've ordered items from all 3 stores and have never had a problem. All prices being equal, my vote would be to go with Adorama, simply because Helen (who posted above) cruises these forums and looks for problems. That
type of customer service can really make a difference.

I've had great experience with Adorama because of Helen O's help. She's incredible.

Helen, you truly make a difference.

Helen,

Thanks for your email, I see that why so many people online praised you as being very helpful, now I know it is true.
I will go ahead and send in my items, like you said I shouldn't have anything to be worried about. I just got a little shock when I asked the person the same question 3 times and received no answer.

As for who I talked to, let's keep him out of this for now, I didn't want to get him upset which might affect my dealing with Adorama :)

 Thanks for your help again!

Hi Helen,

You are fantastic -- that zipper pouch is jet black on a jet black interior and quite flat.

Thanks, You are correct, the strap is right in there!  That was my mistake.

Thanks always for the excellent service, Helen; you're always very timely for us customers.

Good morning, all;

This is a really nice surprise. We have concrete evidence that at least one of the sponsors for this forum is also interested enough in the APUG forum to actively be a participant on this forum. We can see that they are here, and
they do have a true interest in what we are doing and in how we are disposed toward them and the service they are providing to the largest film using group of people on the Internet.

If Adorama is interested in what we are doing, and in working with us, and are responsive to us, then they do deserve at least my support for some of my photographic equipment and supplies purchases.

Hey guys and gals, say hi to Helen. (Hi Helen, been a while since I've seen you round the internet.) She is one of the many reasons I like to use Adorama. How many companies have you seen that are this proactive? That was an extra selling point for the TF for me.)

I usually deal with them for camera gear and they are very good about returns.

Outstanding Helen.

This kind of support is one of the reasons I normally look at Adorama first.

Helen. That was a demonstration of good ambassadorship, and thats not the only time I have seen you show that. 100% well done Regards

Also the good ambassadorship Helen shown here, she is like that in person and many of Adorama staff too.

inetjoker    says: Sticky situation. Helen helps and seems to be the only employee of camera dealers that shows up here. I know it is her job but anyone see other photography dealers with a direct response? I would love to give a sticky to them but I can't because only Helen is here.

So give a call out to all you other dealers to get an online Flickr person like Helen And one with thick skin.... I am not saying Helen is perfect but she does show up.

Helen, don't worry about it. It was 3 years ago. My paperwork for this item was all shredded two moves ago, and I can't even imagine the accounting headache it would incur at this point. (If it was last month, I'd absolutely take you up on this.) Buying used stuff always incurs some risk.

Most importantly for you, Adorama is still my go-to resource for new purchases, big and small. It's a smart move for you to be on Flickr for this kind of customer facing. Thanks!

I was ripped from Adorama too, bad customer service from how they acted. Hang ups and misdirected on customer service

AUTHOR: oxfordu - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, May 21, 2011

I was ripped off by Adorama on a misleading order of 2 tripods, which were crap. When I made the order, their site said nothing about being on vacation for over a week. Just place the order and days go by without any receipt or customer service.

Adorama services said I order 2 tripods but I only wanted one of them. I filed a complaint but they mailed the tripods but customer service or the whole company was on vacation to correct the order. Was not on the page I landed on from another website to there's. The order place said nothing about a vacation period, nothing. I did not start from the home page to the product page, so I saw nothing about any long vacation. They should of posted it on the order page because I would of never would made that order with Adorama and I wish I didn't because it was a nightmare after waiting and waiting.

When tripods arrived, I noticed the tripods I got were not as discribed, they were cheap Chinese made tripods. They sent the 2 tripods in 2 boxes with 2 separate shipments but they said the shipping was paid for but they wanted me to pay them to return them. I said no way, yet they sent me a UPS return label for one box and they said you pay for the other one. I explained that I did not pay for 2 of them, they made the mistake yet they were not willing to correct the problem they created.

I taped the 2 boxes together and shipped as one box but Adorama got the box but they still wanted to charge me for 2 shipments, so they sent me a refund and took off the $21.30 off my refund. I said no way, I said screw this I file chargeback because this company Adorama is giving me the run around.

I am posting my complaint because they tried to rip me off and their customer service was rude over the phone, very rude. They think they are right, ever heard of the term the customer is always right, not at Adorama.

I am not going to order from this company again because they were horrible with me. I don't know if you had the same problem but I searched them online and found several other related complaints about them as like here.

The OP is full of s^%$^%#$!

AUTHOR: Lynda - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 12, 2011

I have also dealt with Adorama Camera several times and have found them to be reputable and honest.  When I ordered supplies for my husband's photography class, after the credit card was charged, they actually called me when the item needed was out of stock and offered to get it and ship it express at their expense to make sure my husband had it in time for the start of his class.  They are wonderful!

The OP is full of crap.  How can someone make unauthorized charges if you are "thinking" of making a purchase and "doing your research"?  If you haven't made a purchase, then Adorama never had your credit card information!  The owner of this company is right to be suspicious.

My mother always taught me that if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and talks like a duck then...well, you finish the rest if you can with any degree of comprehension.

Message from Helen Oster at Adorama Camera

AUTHOR: Helen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 12, 2011

It's true that many years ago Adorama had a reputation that, rightly or wrongly, may have been less than ideal. For example, as recently as 2005 we showed a very poor 3.75/10 at (((Redacted)))Since then, a change of management, philosophy and purpose, and we are way up to 9.5/10.

Still a way to go to that 'perfect 10' but I hope you'll agree that we are headed in the right direction.

As Adorama's Customer Service Ambassador I'm always very happy to be emailed directly by customers who ever need any advice or after-sales support.

Report certainly sounds bogus.

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 12, 2010

It doesn't appear that the original poster even tried to make this look like a legitimate report.   The report title implies a credit card was charged, yet the body of the report says that the poster was thinking about purchasing from Adorama and lists a bunch of links.

It seems pretty obvious that this is a phony report.  I don't think you need to worry about anyone taking it seriously.

Adorama Camera - a company to trust

AUTHOR: Helen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, May 12, 2010

I represent Adorama Camera, the subject of this report. Our current customer feedback and ratings at www.resellerratings.com is currently 9.37/10, which reflects our excellent reputation and good standing.

Only genuine customers are able to post feedback on resellerratings.com, unlike rip-off report where it is possible to post information that is known to be false, inaccurate or misleading.

The poster has provided no contact information or evidence that the claim made in this report has any substance in fact.

It is my belief that the poster originates from Arizona, as the style of writing mirrors that of an individual who has been attempting to extort money from Adorama over the past few weeks, by posting feedback that is, or may reasonably be considered to be, defamatory, libelous, hateful, unlawfully threatening or unlawfully harassing Adorama Camera as well as to other retailers and service suppliers.

In addition, the title of the report suggests that the poster has purchased from Adorama Camera - whereas the substance of the report suggests completely the opposite.

It is my contention that the title is worded only to shock the reader, and to denigrate Adorama Camera.

If the poster is genuine, I apologize, and would invite him or her to contact me directly to resolve the reported problem: helen.oster@adoramacamera.com.

If not, I request that this comment is removed forthwith.

Frequent Adorama customer here...

AUTHOR: Edgeman - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 11, 2010

You wrote in the thread title that they stole from your credit card but you didn't elaborate. How did Adorama steal from your credit card?

Since you asked for user experiences, I've been a customer of Adorama (along with B&H and Cameta) for years and have no problems with them. My orders have included large prints, film, strobes, light modifiers, lenses and light stands among other things. I've never seen mysterious charges, items that I haven't ordered, rude customer service associates or inaccurate descriptions.

Like most reputable online retailers, Adorama will send you an email after you place an order. This email will include an email summary of your order along with the total amount you paid. If you notice a discrepancy, contact them right away though this has never happened to me.

You might be interested to know that Adorama accepts Paypal and Google Checkout for payment. While I wouldn't recommend using Paypal for major purchases, it is an option if you are absolutely opposed to giving Adorama your credit card number.
