#1. This company gave emailed me a quote of $1320.00 based on a detailed list of my items. After they had loaded my stuff on the truck, the carriers informed me that the total cost of the move would be $2421.00. I had even gotten rid of some of the things that the original quote was based on. They said that my stuff ended up taking 175 more cubic feet because they could not stack my couches.

After they left with my items, I called the company to argue about the grossly underestimated quote and after speaking with this man who tells me he's the manager and the only one I can speak with (it turns out that he is really only a dispatcher)- he says he'll take $175.00 off and that's it. He was very rude and unwilling to give me any reason as to how they could make such a large mistake in a quote. This is all after calling incessantly for almost a week- every day the "manager" would try to put me off another day

They offered one month of free storage- which I did take advantage of. I was told that when I called them to deliver my items, they would deliver them between 7-10 days after they receive notification from me. I called at the end of May and told them I was ready for my delivery.

A few days later, I called them back to tell them that they would have to deliver on a weekend or late evening because I could not take time off from work. The "manager" informed me that they can do late night deliveries and that he would give me 24 hours notice when they would deliver. He verified the phone number they had on record, and I told him that that was no longer the correct phone number, and at that point, I gave him my new number.

6 days after I called them, I received a voice mail message from the carriers, informing me that they were trying to deliver my stuff THAT evening. I called the company- once again I could only talk to that same "manager" and I argued with him that I had not received 24 hours notice- the place where the delivery needed to go was my friends house, and she was not home- so I had no way to get into the house. I was informed that he attempted to call my phone and he repeated the phone number to me - this was the same number that 2 days prior- I had told him I no longer used. I was told that it was not his problem that I did not answer my phone. He said that 24 hours notice is not when he actually speaks to someone, but when he leaves a message. I told him that I would not be there because I could not get into the house. He told me that I WOULD be there or else my stuff would be put into storage which I would be financially responsible for.

I did not make the delivery and my stuff was put in storage. This manager refused to redeliver- I asked if they could deliver the next day- they said no... I asked them if they could re-deliver another day- the manager said no. I asked to speak to another manager, the owner, the president- anyone else- I was told "he" was the only one I could speak with.

Now they have my stuff in storage, and they will not tell me where the storage unit is. I asked them to tell me where the storage unit was so I could verify that my stuff was actually there, and then I would send them the balance. They said no. They said that until I pay the balance in cash or cashiers check, they will not tell me where my stuff is being stored. First they told me it was 10 miles from where I was going to store it (sturbridge) and then a week later another manager tells me it's in lexington (which is 50-60 miles from where I was going to store it). I asked if I could pay by credit card and I was told no- because then I could go cancel the payment.

At this point, I don't even believe that they have my shipment. I contacted the better business bureau (advanced moving already has an unsatisfactory record with them), the department of transportation (who informed me that within a week, they had received many calls about this same company), and a local news channel. I don't want to pay them any more money until I know that my stuff is actually in good condition.

It is amazing to me that all these large companies have received all these complaints against this one company, and yet not one of them can do anything to help out the suffering customers!!

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!

#1 Consumer Suggestion

your complaint makes a difference

I'm so sorry about your experience. Many of us have had the exact same experience and we're trying to do something about it. Please take the time to complain to Bob Butterworth, the Attorney General of Florida. (Rokah's company is located in Florida) the web address is: http://legal.firn.edu/consumer/index.html and the phone number is: 1-800-435-7352. You should also complain to the Department of Transportation. Consumers may file household goods or other commercial motor carrier complaints via FMCSA's nationwide complaint hotline, 1-888-368-7238 (1-888 DOT-SAFT). To further protect consumers, a commercial complaint form is now available on FMCSA's website at http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov. The form may be mailed or faxed to: FMCSA, 400 Seventh St., SW, MC-PA, Washington, DC 20590. The fax number is 202-366-3375.

If your move was into or out of Florida, there is a new law in effect there as of today, July 1, making it illegal to hold someone's goods hostage.

Two of Zion Rokah's employees were recently arrested in Wisconsin and are being extradited to North Carolina this week. So please make a complaint as it increases the chances that this company will be shut down.
