Advantage Florida Mortgage: Douglas Hernberg Home Buyers Beware! Unscrupulous, Dishonest, Broker Stay Away! Miami Florida

When I read the previous rip off reports on Douglas Hernberg, it was like my situation all over again. I was treated the same way. I was told that I could not get a copy of my Good Faith Estimate because "we only want to send one." I was forced to pay my appraisal report over the phone before even receiving anything via mail. I was told my best option was a "no doc" loan since I am a full time student, recently separated from the military with very good credit. However, he "created" a fictitious job for me to show that I did have an income. When the loan inevitably came crashing down (4 days before closing), he said "we'll put it through to another lender."

Three days later I called to verify it was going to a different lender and he stated "you are not my priority, I will get to you when I get to you, I am very busy." He said my best option was to go through another lender, BUT I was still expected to pay his brokers fees!!!!! He also said I could not have the appraisal report that I paid for!!! In a huff during our conversation he said that he would not work with me anymore, but once again, wanted his fees paid.

I should have been tipped off when he "fired" my title company and tried to force me to work with another title company (of his choosing). He claimed they were incompetent and then he verbally abused 2 employees and the owner of the tile company. He also refused to talk to my Realtor (although she is a trusted friend of mine), and when he finally would speak with her, he was disrespectful to her and talked down to her. He continuously made statements that he is "good at what he does, and is the best in the business." I have never dealt with such a pompous,
disrespectful person in my entire life.

He talked around all of my questions regarding his fees and never gave me a straight answer regarding the Good Faith Estimate. I regret that my current house had already been sold, so I felt like I was forced to work with this man who ensured me that I could get a loan through him. Please, please, check out your brokers completely and do not go by their high opinions of their selves.
