I contacted Affordable Plumbing and Water Damage Restoration after hours on a weekend due to a minor water leak. I described the problem to the call representative inquiring about availability of service at that time, during the call I asked "How much is this going to cost me" the response I received from the representative was $49.00.

I agreed to the fee of $49.00 and requested that they send someone. The gentleman arrived with no sort of credentials or professional attire with only a wrench in his hand.

He was able to get the water shut off and assess the problem, he asked if I wanted him to fix the problem then or he could come back on Monday as it would be cheaper. I had my credit card out and ready to pay him and he said he would just bill me on Monday. At NO time did he make reference to any additional fee before or after no performed the services. He was at my home for approx. 12 minutes on June 28th, 2014. I was never provided with any sort of billing invoice at that time.

On Monday June 28th the service tech arrived to complete the removal of the water filtration dispenser, installed a small shut off and did not even utilize all the parts that were initially intended for the project. He was here for approx. 15 minutes.

I was presented with an invoice totalling $412.00, for the saturday night trip a charge of $270.00 not $49.00 as disclosed and quoted to me. The tech told me he was only charging me for a 1/2 not the standard hour + trip charge totalling $130 and parts of $12.00.

We discussed the bill and I told him that it wasn't correct that I was told saturday would be $49.00, his response was "She has got to stop telling people that, she keeps doing it...I am goign to have to talk to her" I said that I would pay the $49.00 as I was quoted but that the $270.00 was not fair and never disclosed to me.

At that time he adjusted the invoice to reflect the Saturday charge of $49.00 and the appropriate charges for the service on Monday June 28th for a total of $191.00. He crossed out the incorrect charges changed the total, accepted my payment via check, noted the check # on the invoice. I signed and initialed the invoice at that time considering it to be paid in full.

Not more than 10 minutes after he left I received a voicemail from a Sue at Affordable Plumbing telling me that I had a past due balance of $221 and that I needed to pay it. I called her back and at that time she raised her voice at times yelling and swearing at me telling me that I owed the money. I once again stated that I paid what I was quoted and on my invoice as no other fees were ever disclosed.

At this time she threatened to put a lien on my home, file a collection account with the credit bureaus and take me to court.

They are very unprofessional and use intimidation and unwarranted threats to envoke fear into their customers.
