Received a letter from AFNI Collections when I got home last night. They're trying to get me to pay what they say is a Verizon bill from 16 years ago!
I see several problems with this. First, obviously, the statute of limitations ran out a looooong time ago. Not only that , but 16 years ago Verizon didn't exist, and neither did the area code listed as the billing telephone number. I know I had a rental house in the exchange listed, but I have no idea if the phone number was mine or not.
What I am sure of, is I pay my bills, and I certainly don't owe $453 to Verizon. With house, business, cell(s), etc., I currently have 6 different Verizon numbers/lines. You'd think they would have told me if I owe them money.
I smell a lawsuit...
