I've already reported this scumbag company to the BBB, and I'm in the process of reporting them to my state Attorney General, and any news outlet that will listen. Like everyone else, Afni sent me a letter out of the blue saying I owe Verizon $350 for an account that was closed IN GOOD STANDING 5 years ago. I don't owe them a cent and I've requested documentation from Verizon showing it. As far as I'm concerned, AFNI can stick it. I have proof, they don't. If I need to, I'll take this up with the credit bureaus if Afni wants to try to report this BS claim to them. Not a problem. Facts are on my/our side and that's all that matters.

I tried to call Afni but got the automated recording saying they cannot take phone calls. Probably due to the amount of pissed off people they are trying to rip off calling in. Don't call in. I also visited their website and they do in fact have my information in their system. No problem. Send them a few good messages via their feedback option. Don't be afraid to tell them how you feel either. Again, I have the facts and that's all I need. Send them a cease and desist letter, contact the orginal comapny that they say you owe money to, verify that it is bogus, and start reporting AFNI to the BBB, state AGs, lawyers, and anyone else that will hold them accountable and stick their feet to the fire. The goal should be to put them out of business. Our country has enough problems and can't afford fraudulent bloodsucking scam artists like this hurting consumers even more.

Minnesota has recently filed a lawsuit in July 2008. We need to get every other state to do the same. I'm sick of bloodsucking companies like this trying to rip people off and extort money from consumers. I would also suggest contacting Afni via their website, email contacts, fax, etc. every single day until they stop their fraudulent practices. Google "Afni Collections" and you'll find two things. One result of the search is their website. The rest of the 157,000 results are links to sites describing the ripoffs and scams they're trying to pull on us. Read through some of those and you'll find lots of Afni email addresses, physical addresses, and fax numbers. Use them. Make sure they get your cease and desist letter and understand that you're not an uninformed consumer that can or will be pushed around. They're not going to harrass me for no reason without getting an earfull back. If Afni wants to go to war, we'll go to war.

"JK"...Stay off the phone!! Never call or speak to any bottomfeeder on the phone!!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 24, 2008

JK,

It is very important to never speak to any bottomfeeder on the phone! It can only make things worse for you, and it will not preserve your rights under the law.

All disputes MUST be in writing, and should be sent ONLY by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy of each for your records. This procedure is VERY important for when it comes time to sue them for FDCPA and/or FCRA violations.

NEVER sign ANYTHING you send to a bottomfeeder!!

It is also very important to check your credit reports to see if in fact they have reported this "debt" to the credit bureaus. Keep in mind that they need your SS# and DOB to report to the credit bureaus.

If it is NOT on your credit reports, they most likely have the wrong person, which means you got the letter because you have the same or similar name to the actual person they are attempting to locate.

Keep in mind that these "junk debt buyers" purchase these types of old, usually legally uncollectable debts for far less than a penny on the dollar and usually have no idea of whom the actual "debtor" is. They are fishing. Do NOT "bite"!!

Upon first contact by any bottomfeeder regarding a collection account, by the means above, send a DISPUTE, and a "Request for Debt Validation" under the provisions of the FDCPA.

At this time, all collections efforts must cease [including negative credit reporting] until they properly "validate" the debt.

Don't get mad...GET PAID!!
