Sarah Chaney from Against the Wind Ranch showed up at another horse farm to look at a horse for sale that had been on Craigslist for $750. The horse was a 17 year old grade QH very sweet old horse. She never even rode the horse but watched someone at the farm ride it. She said the horse was for a husband horse. She paid for the horse in two separate checks and left with the horse. A few days later she called and said the horse was acting awful and wouldn't stand tied to the trailer. She demanded a partial refund and wanted the $250 check torn up. The former owner of the horse was flabbergasted and offered to take the horse back and refund ALL the money. Sarah insisted they tear up the $250 check. The former owner again reiterated she'd take back the horse. The former owner decided to go ahead and tear up the check.
Less than two weeks later the horse was advertised on Virginia Equestrian.com as a NINE year old gelding who stands tied to the trailer wonderfully. Price is $6500. Here's a quote from the ad "he will stand tied ALL DAY, loads on the trailer, vet, bathe - all no sweat for him". She also said very many deceptive things in the ad making it sound like they had the horse for a very long time. Here's another example " You can pull him out of the pasture after months of not riding him and he will act the same as if he had been in regular work. " She's only had him TWO weeks!
This is a sweet old horse, he is certainly a good boy but no where near a $6500 horse, and 17 years old and not nine. Not only did she lie to his former owner to get some $$ back, she's going to turn right around and rip off some unsuspecting family who doesn't know about horses. She obviously does this for a living and targets kind and unsuspecting people. I just want others to know about this if they google her name and BEWARE of her! Let's hope the old horse gets a good home.
