Have been a resident since the end of 2003. Have always paid rent in full and on time. have never had complaints from fellow residents, and used to think this was a fairly nice apartment complex.

--2007, Aimco hired 'roofing contractors' to install new roof on building. The job was literally only half completed when the contractors walked off the job, leaving half of the building including our apartment exposed to the elements. No roof over half the apt, large rainstorm, you do the math. We called maintenance to report it, used the emergency # provided by the management. They sent a handyman who repainted the spots of water damage on the walls and did nothing else. We had to threaten them in order to get somebody out to look at it. Roof repairs were done quickly, but not before some family heirloom furniture was damaged beyond repair.

--2009. June 14th. AC discovered to be non-functional. Called management, who sent out a so-called tech to repair it. No repairs. Topped off coolant, was told that AC was working. Have called management every day for the last 11 days to report that the AC is not working. Height of summer, 80 degrees minimum in the apartment every day. Concerned that pet may be showing signs of heatstroke. Have suffered from the unbearable heat myself,as has my husband. Tech replaced filter, proclaimed it was working, and left.

June 24th, management sends someone to install a window unit in the bedroom. Tech seals window with duct tape which promptly melts in the heat. Breaks electrical outlet trying to plug in unit. Comes back in to replace tape.

June 25, management finally calls a contractor, states that they will not leave until the work is done. Contractor does not have the required part, leaves.

June 26. Contractor scheduled to do repairs, fails to show, calls and states that they have a scheduling conflict.

Spoke to manager in person at office, was told "We could put you up in a hotel for the evening. You'll have to put up the money and we'll give you a rent credit on next month's rent."

We have this promise in writing, but I am proceeding to file further complaints w/ the BBB and any other resources I can find. They have taken our money and have not provided the service as advertised -- namely an apartment in which a human can live.

So far Aimco's track record speaks for itself. Googled the name of the company only to find several pages worth of lawsuits and complaints. Should have done that before we moved in.
