Hi,
Just a short story of the Charleston Air Force Medical Group 437 which is located in North Charleston, South Carolina. I'm have everything together for a congressional but wondering if anyone else has had some severe problems with them.
My wife picked up a PCM at the Medical Group 437 in Feb of 2006. Her first visit and only visit with her PCM Dr. Nelson she just wasn't very receptive. My wife went to the ER and tried to get a follow up with her PCM and was told from her PCM "I cannot do anything for you". She ended up seeing one of the PCM's partners, 4 ER Visits and 6 weeks later they still would not see her. My wife had low blood, continous bleeding was told she needed to see an OBGYN, that didn't help no get the Medical Group going another ER Visit she was told she needed to see a Cardiologist and she attempted to see her PCM but her PCM wouldn't see her. Another ER Visit she was throwing everything up she did see her PCM for the follow up they did tests which to date they cannot find nor have the found the sample of what she threw up. Another ER Visit she had low calcium in which she has had thyroid surgery but again her PCM would not let her keep this appointment.
How does that sound?
We had a meeting with the Commander of the Medical Group (Col. Sykes) who seemed to care. She made the Doctors give my wife a OBGYN referrl (who said it was far too long for her to go like this and he gave his cell number if she was in the hospital again for him to see her), a stomach doctor referral (who said she needed her gallbladder out), A sleep study (which of course she has sleep apnea) but they would not give her these.
Well after the meeting with the commander of the medical group we are back to the same thing, then changed her doctor for no reason. I guess so someone else could say she is this and that to protect the first doctor. They cancel her appointments and not tell us, they change the doctor of who the appointment was with or the time and call the morning of the appointment.
There is so much and ironically she has only been at the medical group for about 10 months within 3 months we had to have this meeting.
We have talked to the Surgeon General and on the edge of the Congressional side of things.
Thanks for input! And if anyone has done an congressional can you give us guidance, whom to address it go and format.
They even had her Urgent Referral and then just cancelled it while she was at the Urgent Care facility. We have gone through the Patient Advocate and all, there is just too much to list we have about a 6 page congressional with audio tapes we started recording our conversations and as well her doctor visits, they are so finished.
Thanks again.

Yes tell me about maturity. The same Commander of the Medical Group.....and her staff refused to give another young lady a referral.........oops now she found out if they would have referred her out she would have more than 6 months to live.
What is immature? Yes, it is all a misunderstanding right? Maybe you will experience the same to understand how many others are feeling right now. But you hit the nail on the head..........the Commander is a reflection of the ENTIRE command, that is why she is the COMMANDER.......we are not talking about a junior person.

1. Your ignorance is compounded by the title of your last post. Last time I checked I also have the right to congressional oversight. Congressmen can be contacted and requested to become involved on our behalf as well.
2. "Article this?" shows a grand amount maturity. As a LE official I was simply trying to illustrate why, if subject to the UCMJ (note* you don't have to be active duty to be subject to the rules and regs of the UCMJ) you should be careful. If this is big enough for a congressman then you can be sure it will be researched. I have seen people brought down for violating chain of command and even civilians for talking bad about their employers and I was just trying to keep you informed.

Article 89
AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, September 13, 2007
The following is addressed to the author IF he is a military member and/or in any other form subject to military law (pursuant to Article 2 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice), otherwise feel free to ignore.
It sounds like your red tape was excessive, and that can be understandably frustrating. But I'm not here to debate the elements of your claim in which you seek to discredit an entire Wing of Airmen, because of the mistakes of a couple.
What I am here to point out though is that I hope you're a civilian, AND not subject the UCMJ.
If you are subject to same, please research Articles 89 and 92(sec1) of the UCMJ.
Article 89 states:
Any person subject to this chapter who behaves with disrespect toward his superior commissioned officer shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.
[For extra clarification the words "subject to this chapter" refer to article 2 of the UCMJ which defines those subject to its standards (mostly but not necessarily only military)]
Article 92 (section 1) states:
"Any person subject to this chapter who--
(1) violates or fails to obey any lawful general order or regulation..."
(Article 92 would apply because article 89 is a regulation)
I'm not here to chastise but just to warn (as military law enforcement professional and NCO) that if subject to the UCMJ you are breaking the LAW and anyone complicit in the posting of this article that is subject to the UCMJ is an accessory.
I'm not here to report etc., just killing time and thought I'd warn you in case you were unaware.

Yes it is and will be good to get her out of the MTF and that is what i have been trying to do for a while. Kind of stuck in the sense of her not working right now. We been smart and started digital recording our conversations with them on her appointments and all that. They changed her without asking within the MTF from a Doctor to a Nurse Practitionor but then they said she had too much going on but only had 3 appointments in a year. so our second meeting the the Commander of the Medical group they said she needed someone more indepth as in Internal Medicine so you know what they did. mid month and not telling her they kicked her our the MTF and assigned her to a "Family Practice" doctor. um, the same as the MTF. Does that make sense?

Being an Air Force Wife for many years, you find it hard to go to outside services other than the MTF. I would be overjoyed at the prospect of finding my own doctor. Use tricare online to access the doctor's available. Good luck and I say good riddance to the MTF at your base.

My wife had a medical appoinment on this day with Dr. Lee. The Scheduled appointment for for her neck but my wife told the doctor for about the last month her heart has been racing and heart rate has been over 100 when usually at 67......this date it was about 115 during her visit.....Dr. Lett did not have time to check our her heart and would only look at her neck as scheduled and did not give her another appointment, urgent care or anything. Ironically her Thryoid doctor has said she needs tosee a cardio doctor.....this has been passed to the medical group.....the other medical group doctor said the same......but no referrals.
22 Nov I took her to the ER her heart was hurting and she had been throwing up. Heart Rate was 160........virus going to her heart! The Gastro doctor in the hospital put her on a very strong antibotic......and after a week she was released a cardio doctor was to check her out in the hospital but rather they mader her 3 appointments with a cardio doctor when we told them of the difficults and lack of support from the Charleston Air Force Base......She was told to have a follow up with her PCM A.S.A.P. The next workday she called to book a appt. but they were going to make her wait for over 2 weeks! She explained everything about the week hospital stay......antibotic and all but it did not matter 14 Dec 2006 was her appt.
I think 28 Nov we called and talked with the Medical Group Commander's Secretary.......which thankfully the MedGroup Commander was gone as she has been useless in the process and not doing a thing but ironically the Secretary got my wife an appt, imagine that the commander won't do anything but her secretary will. Appointment was for 6 December 2006.
After appt on 6 Dec the Commander (Col. Sykes) comes to talk with my wife....my wife wouldn't talk with her.....we had an meeting with Col. Sykes on 5 May and it did nothing. Anyhow we go upstairs and talk with her the Col. Basically says they need my wife out of the Medical Group by 1 Jan 2007 and to pick other healthcare services.
There is so much more to say.........I will have to attach a copy of your congressional. Kevin Oshae the so called Quality a*s.............urance taught us to record our phone conversations due to his rude mouth and as well her doctor appointments.
Oh on another note the violated hipaa
