CONSUMER BEAWARE, DO NOT FALL FOR AIR FRANCE SCAM. AIR FRANCE IS THE WORST AIRLINE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED IN MY FREQUENT TRAVEL EXPERIENCE. BOOKING THEIR TICKET IS GETTING YOURSELF INVOLVED WITH A LOT OF FRUSTRATION AND TROUBLE THAT YOU'LL REGRET EVER GETTING INVOLVED WITH THEM!!!

Due to a family member's sickness, I could not foresee myself being able to make the trip to Spain on March 17th the original departure date. I called Air France/Priceline on 3/11/2008 and 3/13/2008 and 3/17/2008 to cancel the trip but was informed the following unreasonable restrictions

1. At the time of booking the flight, Air France informed me that in case I want to change the flight itenary, all I need to pay is $230 reschedule fee, they failed to inform consumers that you cannot even exchange the ticket for a credit with Air France for which you can apply toward future travel with them. This restriction is a significant deviance from the mainstream air line practice that for them not to disclose to consumers at the time of purchase is very irresponsible.

2 Air France/Priceline failed to inform customers at the point of reservation/purchase that any changes to the flight schedule must be made before March 17th original departure date or else the ticket will be treated as forfeited.

3 Trying to resolve the issue in an amicable manner, I tried to make compromises with Air France/Priceline during my call with them on 3/11/2008, 3/13/2008 and 3/17/2008 by complying with their restrictions and reschedule the flight to an alternative future departure date. I requested to be rescheduled to ANY departure date that will cause minimal airfare difference between what I have already paid for vs what they will charge me for the new airfare. I was told by the reservation agent that ANY departure date they could reschedule me to will require me to pay $1,500 for the new ticket in addition to the $230 penalty fee for making changes to my flight. In another word, I was left with no choice but to either forfeit the entire $520 airfare I've already paid for or else pay $1230 additional fee in order to use the supposedly $520 credit with them.

I do not consider Air France practices to be fair in anyway to consumers (it's more of a bait and switch sales practice) thus all consumers out there, please save yourself the trouble by getting anywhere involved with AIR FRANCE, they have the worst constomer service and the most deceptive, shady sales practices.

Intermediary like "Priceline" or Air France does not make any difference!

AUTHOR: Maccacupec - ()

POSTED: Sunday, August 18, 2013

Dear observer,I admit that if you book air france flights through an intermediary it makes changes and everything certainly more complicated ( I booked a flight though seat24 and on the information there were no mention of which gate I should go to terminal 2 therefore as there are 6 gates there and the airport display was defect, we finally arrived just at check in closure and Airfrance staff did not let us in) BUT just this morning, my husband and I had our flight back to Berlin (directly booked on AIFrance website) AND Airfrance staff just did not deliver our tickets and did not let us flight... WHY? I did not take the in-flight Berlin-PAris in the first place ( I tried to change the flight date for myself due to unexpected funerals one week before original departure date but I was told -as it was anyway written-" not changeable- not refundable" Therefore I just took a one-way ticket Berlin-PAris for the matching date for the funerals and would have taken only the back flight this morning with my husband) Therefore my ticket was cancelled ( even if the money was still in AIrFrance's purse) Nice proposal to still go with them back to Berlin today: 460 EUR ! ( I paid the two return tickets  250 EUR- Paris-Berlin is for your info a 1,5 hour flight) SO no understanding, no wish to help customers from AIR FRANCE (please see my report)In conclusion, dear  observer, no need to write 3 times that this is a case which happened because the consumer used an "intermediary travel provider"--> as there are other cases attesting that AIR FRANCE staff is not courteous and useless and not customer oriented at all! I fully support the victim of this rip-off by never booking again a flight with air france!

Ah so the truth sneaks out ....

Clearly you bought your ticket through PRICELINE, not Air France. Therefore you are governed by the rules and regulations of PRICELINE, which are clearly stated on their website and include NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. You are lucky that they were willing to help you as much as they did. Next time, if you want "full service," pay full price for your ticket and buy it directly from the AIRLINE, not a discount travel site, so that you will have full privileges associated with requesting refunds or rescheduling.

Your complaint in no way constitutes a rip off. This is simply a case of buyer's remorse and you projecting the blame on a blameless party. Next time make more responsible decisions when handling personal business.
