I called the Heating and Air Company listed above that does business by several business names in the Ashland, Kentucky area to my home on Memorial day weekend because my heat pump decided to stop blowing cool air and the temperatures outside and inside my home were in excess of 85 degrees and extremely unbareable and my parents were on there way to visit from Virginia. My father having a triple bypass heart condition can not and should not be exposed to any extreme heat due to his heart. Joe Giles who showed up was here less than 30 minutes and while here I noticed him inside his van on his cell phone and talking to my neighbor more than he was diagnosing my problem with my heat pump. He came back inside my home about 30 minutes later and told me that my coils were dirty, compressor was locked out and not working at all and the compressor needs to be replaced which would cost in the neighborhood of $2,600.00, he indicated that the compressor was leaking because there was dye around the unit and that he recommended a new unit a Goodman with 10 years parts and labor. He said he could repair my old heat pump but it would cost me $2,600.00 or that I could have the whole unit installed for about $4,500.00. He told me he was sorry that he did not have any parts and could not get any parts until Tuesday because of the long Memorial Day weekend. He left us in the heat and humidity of well over 88 degrees inside the home and outside without being able to fix a thing.

My parents decided for us to go to Wal-mart and buy window ac's and fans until Tuesday after the holiday weekend. I decided that they were correct and that's what we did, then on Tuesday morning I called another Heating and Air Company in the Ashland phone book and he came right out within an hour and he was here only about 15 minutes and he said my problem was simple it was only the capacitor and he could go buy one and be right back....in less than an hour we had air and in less than 5 hours our whole home was cooled back down and the unit and thermostat was right on target with our thermometer in the living room on the wall. The service call for the total repair was only $83.40 parts and labor, not the $2,600.00 or $4,500.00 for the repairing the unit or replacing the whole unit.

If G & G Heating and Air comes to your home and tells you, you need a new unit...get a Second Opinion this company is out to ripoff people, they tried to rip me off.  I am the person who filed the original report.   I am the person who went without air conditioning during some of the hottest days.  I saw a rebuttal from it's Corporate, but it took them to August 2009 to hear about this matter and respond to this report.  I see that G & G Heating and Air did not respond, that should tell you all something here in Ashland, KY. 

***NOTE: GET A SECOND OPINION: EVEN WITH MY FATHER SUFFERING FROM HEAT WITH A HEART CONDITION.  IT WAS MY FATHER WHO SAID THAT THE UNIT WAS DOING THINGS THAT WOULD NOT WARRANT A NEW UNIT OR ONE NEEDING TO BE INSTALLED.  MY FATHER TOLD ME TO WAIT IT OUT.  WAIT IT OUT WE DID WITH FANS BOUGHT FROM WAL-MART.  IF MY FAMILY HAD NOT BEEN HERE FROM VIRGINIA AND MY SISTER AND HER HUSBAND NOT HAVING THEIR OWN BUSINESS IN VIRGINIA REPAIRING AND FIXING THESE UNITS, I MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE FALLEN INTO BUYING A NEW UNIT FROM THEM AND THEY WOULD HAVE INSTALLED A NEW UNIT.  I DECIDED TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY AND GET A SECOND OPINION THAT SECOND OPINION COST ME $83.40..........NOT $2,600-$4,500.00 THAT G & G HEATING and AIR WANTED.   PEOPLE BE SMART LIKE I WAS.

In response to the above letter, it is unfortunate that the problem was diagnosed wrong. The company that diagnosed the problem is a franchise out of Waco Texas and sometimes we all make mistakes!

I have an Aire Serv franchise located in another state and being in this group, I can assure you this was a mis-diagnosis and not anything intentional at all.

We are all held to a higher standard and customer service comes first, and one of those being after hours and week ends, we are all on call twenty four hours seven days a week with never an overtime charge, even on holiday week ends! There is no way we can carry all the parts necessary to repair every unit made. Even the second company that came out had to go get parts.

I can only apologize to this home owner even though I am not responsible whatsoever, other than we at Aire Serv are a big family and we strive to do our best to take care of our customers!

Please do not let one unsatisfied customer decide for you about how we do business!

Our mission is customer satisfaction!
