If AKAM Associates are the property managers of your building, you might want to find some place else to live !

My husband and I were looking for an ideal spot in New York City to raise our first child, and fell in love with 505 Greenwich St, a modern, family oriented building in the peaceful Manhattan neighborhood named Hudson Square. So we took the plunge and acquired our new home. With two months to go, before my husband and i were due to leave San Francisco, we decided to get a start on the business of decorating. With a baby on the way, there was no time to waste.

As we admired our empty home and pondered how we would begin the process of repainting, a guy, we'll call him Oliver, walked in and introduced himself as teh handyman of the building. He seemed friendly so we asked whether he knew a painter, and Oliver proudly announced that he was qualified to paint and would do the entire apartment for just $3000.00.

We couldnt believe our luck. As we thanked him profusely, he smiled and said that he's been building houses his entire life and we were lucky to stumble upon him, because had we met the super instead, he would have charged us a lot more money for "inferior workmanship". We hadn't met any of the other building employees, but we trusted Oliver based on the fact that he is an employee of the building and of course AKAM wouldn't allow dishonest individuals to have free access to people's homes, right?

After hiring Oliver, we returned to San Francisco, telling him that he had two months to complete the job before our return. During those two months, we expected some phone and email contact, but got nothing. We tried contacting Oliver and eventually sent local friends and family to the building to try to find him. But every time, they were told by doormen that Oliver didnt work after 3pm or was off that day.

Finally one morning, I managed to reach him by phone, whereupon he claimed that his phone had been broken and his computer was in the repair shop. He informed me that the job was progressing, though slowly as he was also still performing his other duties in the building. He asked for an initial payment of $1000.00, which we mailed right away to his home address.

Two months later, as planned, my pregnant self and my husband went to New York to check on the status of the apartment and found that the work was not complete. Worse still, what had been done was appalling workmanship, mainly involving a gigantic roller that left an orange peel effect all over the walls. Furthermore, paint had been spilled all over the carpets and curtains, and gaps appeared in places where Oliver had simply not bothered to paint at all. I laughed bitterly, thinking that the super must have hooks where his hands should be, if as Oliver claimed, he was capable of "inferior workmanship."

When we finally met the super and saw that his limbs were intact, we realized that we had been duped. The super was kind and terribly sorry to hear of our experience. He recommended and excellent painter who completed the job in two weeks, remained in constant contact and charged us $7000.00. Oliver's work was so bad that the new painter had to undo everything and start afresh.

Just prior to hiring the new painter, Maxine's husband met Oliver in the hallway of the building and informed him that they would no longer be requiring his services. Oliver just shrugged his shoulders and walked away. I thought it strange that he didn't put up any resistance to having his job taken away before completion. Most people would resist. What was going on here. Shorly afterwards I emailed Ozzie to ask for my $1000.00 back and of course have heard nothing from him.

So with $1000.00 down the tube, a baby on the way, and a con artist working in the building taht wa s****.>

Obviously a paid lackey

Obviously, you work for Akam Associates Inc. because no one else would post that nonsense. I have had first hand experience with Akam and they really are the lowest and most dishonest parasites in the real estate management business.
