A man stating his name was Alan Cunningham and a partner in a prestigious law firm in Manchester contacted my daughter via email.  I rang directories and the firm exists but with a different phone number.

I pretended to be my daughter and emailed him regarding someone with the same last name who was killed, along with his immediate family in a car crash in 2002.

He said this person had 30 million pounds in the Natwest Bank in England and he supplied me with the documents I needed to prove that he was my relative. He also sent me the letters to use to contact the bank as well as the banks email address.

After much toing and froing, the bank wanted to appoint a barrister to collect the money for me.

When I asked him to put half the barristers fee in my bank account (we were supposedly going 50%/50%) he said that he would forward his half directly to the barrister and he wanted me to send my half of 3500pounds to the barrister.

I told him that if he didn't trust me to put the money in my account (opened especially for this purpose so there were no funds to access) I would not send the money and that would be the end of it.  I asked him to let me know his decision, but strangely enough he never contacted me again.

I have kept copies of all the emails he sent me.
