Not only is companies service worthless, when you realize it and cancel, they still go out of their way to screw you.
They sell there service by sending a salesman door to door offering a "free" Vector Security System. I knew this was a bunch of bull, but since I had been thinking about getting a security system installed I figured I would listen, knowing somewhere at the end of his speech would come the, "Now all you have to do is pay $49 a month and you get all the hardware free"! My particular salesman was named Anthony Chavez, and he was obviously nervous. But I figured, he's just a young guy I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.
Anthony did everything in his power to hide the fact that I would have to sign a contract. To the point that when I asked him point blank what the cancellation policy was, to which he lied and said that it wasn't a contract and I wouldn't be locked into anything. I knew he was full of it at this point, but it still seemed like a good deal and I figured I had the 3 day cancellation required by law if I changed my mind. Anthony even performed some fancy and surreptitious paper folding to hide the actual contract paper, which I kinda laughed at because he was practically shaking while doing it.
I was out the rest of that night after they installed the system, but the next day I decided to go ahead and do some more research and see how effective this "free" system was. Pretty quickly I realized the only useful part of the package was the Vector Sign in the front yard. A two year old could disable the system in about 10 seconds. I wasn't expecting a lot but this system was a total joke.
The next business day I called to cancel the service and have the tech come out and remove the system. At this point I realized that Anthony had taken the contract and agreement forms with him in the midst of the installation. I told the young girl at AMP who's name I have since forgotten that fact and that I didn't want the service. She apologized but said it wouldn't be a problem at all and they would schedule the removal that week.
About a week later no one had called me from the company, and the useless little box was still on my wall. So I called in to see what was up. The young woman I spoke to this time said the cancellation hadn't been processed but but said she would take care of it herself and apologized.
At this point I figured they whole thing was a just a total scam so I quickly called and cancelled my credit card. They called me a week later saying they had had a problem charging me card. I asked why they had tried and why was the account open. The girl again played dumb but said she would take care of it.
Jumping forward 7 months they company still hasn't closed my account, the stupid little box is still on my wall, and I get a letter in the mail saying I owed them $368.94 or they would said my account to collections. I was on the phone 30 seconds later with one Alan van Komen who stated they had tried to contact me a dozen times over the past 7 months and that I had ignored their calls. Which was of course a lie, and during the course of the conversation Mr. van Komen admitted they had been calling the wrong number. Not that it would have matter if they had spoken to me because the have refused to cancel the service from the beginning. Mr. van Komen become very ignorant, sarcastic and rude by the end of the conservation to the point that I was boiling mad, not a easy thing to accomplish.
Sorry for the long winded report, but I'm still fuming mad over this. Watch out for this company, everyone I have spoken to has been unprofessional, unethical and in Mr. van Komen's case a complete jacka**. And just in case you were wondering, over the past 7 months I have had NO service what-so-ever.
