First of all, deceitful and misleading advertisement! When you google 'Alcatraz tour' or even just 'Alcatraz', you get "www.AlcatrazTickets.com" in the Sponsored Link box (at the top) and it says it's "The Source".. Total Bull.

AlcatrazTickets.com is NOT THE SOURCE. If you want to visit Alcatraz, go to the REAL SOURCE: www.alcatrazcruises.com
This proves alcatraztickets.com, operated by Alcatraz Media, Inc., (looks like it owns many shoddy tour sites such as ZZTours.com) is just a RIPOFF web site MASQUERADING AS THE SOURCE, charging customers MORE and ripping of customers with their most EGREGIOUS NO REFUND policy!!

This bring up to the REAL ISSUE with this company: their most egregious ABSOLUTELY NO REFUND and NO CANCELLATION policy. If you make a reservation through this company, what you get is a reservation for tour ticket that can ONLY be picked up by exact same person at the exact same time when you made the reservation. There is ABSOLUTELY NO FLEXIBILITY whatsoever: you can not cancel; you can not change; you can not give or sell the reservation. (BTW, the real original site that I mentioned above allows cancellation if the request is made 72 hours before)

The most disgusting thing about this company is their customer relation and attitude to customers. Here goes our real experience with this company. We had mistakenly placed an reservation order for two tickets. Obviously, we requested a cancellation and refund right away. (BTW, the reservation was for a tour 1 month away) Not surprisingly, the answer was no.

We later found out that the 'NO' was as in 'we have NO intention to resolving this issue reasonably with respect'. Their customer service phone line was absolutely RUDE and IMPOLITE. Our second email inquiry got no answer. We had this most extreme customer experience with this company and that is why we actually found out so many details on the business side of Alcatraz tour.

The conclusion: AVOID. BEWARE. LET OTHERS KNOW OF this deceiving ripoff web tour site.

Alcatraz Media IS NOT the company in this report!!!

AUTHOR: Alcatraz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, February 20, 2010

Laieesha,
While I appreciate your 2 cents, the problem with this entire report is that MY company, Alcatraz Media Inc., is completely uninvolved in this transaction/business dealing.  I DO NOT OWN ALCATRAZTICKETS.COM!!!  Further, I do not sell Alcatraz Tickets by themselves with the processing fee the way you have described.  The company in question is a DIFFERENT COMPANY that operates in a DIFFERENT CITY, and is owned by a DIFFERENT PERSON.

The problem with this Report site is that they allow people (including what is believed to be a dishonest competitor in this situation) to post defamatory and false reports about innocent companies, such as mine.  Further, there is no way to rectify the problem without filing a lawsuit, which I have done.  Even still, I have to live with this false report until the legal process is completed, which takes ages as you can imagine.

I am all for freedom of speech and I am an advocate of consumer's rights.  However, my company is not at fault and should not be held accountable for the actions of another company.  That would be like me walking into Target, slipping on a wet floor, and taking action against Wal-Mart.  Ridiculous!

#12 Consumer Suggestion

Always read the fine print

AUTHOR: Laieesha - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, July 13, 2009

After some research and asking some people, here's my two cents...

Alcatraz Cruises, the official source for the Alcatraz tickets, is not at all affiliated with Alcatraz Media. They are merely a tour company, but they do not have any contract with Alcatraz Cruises (as many other tour companies do). What they do is tell you that the tickets are a certain price, but what they're doing is hiking up the price and saying you can get it at a "discounted rate", when really, you are paying $10 or more per ticket. That's the rip-off part.

However, in the fine print (well, it's not really a fine print because they disclose this information BEFORE you even give the credit card) they do state that you will see 2 transactions on your credit card - one from Alcatraz Media and one from Alcatraz Cruises. What they do is take your information, go on the Alcatraz Cruises website, and book the tickets. So Alcatraz Cruises charges the credit card the regular rate, and Alcatraz Media charges their fees. Many people agree to this without reading them first, but technically, it's still legal and binding.

I can't say anything about the customer service. You may have just been talking to the wrong person. To avoid this "rip-off", always check several websites before booking tickets - any tickets. Look for the cheapest offers if you don't/can't find the OFFICIAL website. Of course, it's better if you actually book through the official website. As for the customer service, if you feel the agent is not giving satisfactory service or solution, always ask for a supervisor or a manager and explain the situation. A lot of companies can be flexible with their policies. Just remember, 'You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar'. Be patient when talking to anyone because you may just get what you want/need that way rather than being irate.

Again, just my two cents...

Rebuttal to unfair complaint against Alcatraz Medial

AUTHOR: Carolyn-alcatraz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, May 31, 2009

As a long time and loyal employee of Alcatraz Media, I find myself compelled to respond to someone who is so obviously a jealous competitor that it must be quite apparent to most anyone who reads this man's vicious lies that he is bogus.

First of all, Alcatraz Media, Inc. has operated both successfully and honorably in the Tour and Travel Business since 1999, selling to countless customers and providing a great service. Our customers frequently write and call us with wonderful stories of their happy experiences and send thank-you letters and appreciation for a job well-done. I know this for a fact as I personally quite often am in receipt of these emails and phone calls and frequently respond to them. With so many sales, we do make mistakes and when that happens, we do everthing possible to rectify them....quickly and efficiently.

In any successful endeavor there are those who seek to emulate those who do well. If those who fail don't achieve the same level of success, some will throw stones and act out. "Jason" is this kind of person. I can picture him on the playground if he didn't get the ball or didn't have his way.

Were this person to have experienced a simple ticket problem, it is doubful that he would find it necessary to launch such an out-and-out smear campaign against a fine company using a fake name in an attempt to make our customers think this claims might be true. Unfortunately, his claims sound like what they are: idiotic and ridiculous. How could any company operate successfully in today's difficult Tourism environment were they to be of the type Jason describes. His claims are not only outlandish but are those of someone who wants to bring someone else down to his low-level. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to give my support of this fine company.

Alcatraz Media is not fair to consumers

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 07, 2008

Unfortunately the response from Mr. Windsor is how he responds to everything. He believes his company is infallible.

I for one know that this is exactly how Alcatraz advertises because the company I worked for several years ago was threatening legal action against the company for advertising and selling packages for my company against our wishes. The company will tell all their clients that they are the tour operator when in fact they operate as no more than a travel agent.

The fact that Mr. Windsor can't find the customers name in his database is no surprise because that was a regular occurrence with his company and one of the reason we didn't want our name on any of his companies web sites. His companies mode of operating is that they will be nice to you to get the sale but the second that you ask for help or question anything they tell you that they are either nor responsible for it or that they won't help you because it's against the contract which by the way is illegal in some states because of some of the wording.

Alcatraz has many web sites out there and also goes by the name of Round America. When ever they start to get legal trouble they might even make another LLC named something like the tour they're trying to sell to make it look legit.

Be very careful of Alcatraz and William (Bill) Windsor and his sons.

My Company Does Not Sell This Product

AUTHOR: Alcatraz - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, June 24, 2008

My company does not sell the product that this "complaint" alleges. We do not advertise in the manner that this "complaint" alleges. We have no customer by this name in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The only Jason from Ann Arbor that we have ever had as a customer ordered an architectural tour in Chicago in 2006.

If Jason bought a tour from my company, Alcatraz Media, I would like to know the tour ID so I can locate his customer record. I suspect nothing will be provided as this is clearly false.

Our company is the largest provider of reservations for tours and activities in North America, and we have strict policies that we adhere to and enforce. We have signed contracts with all of our customers, and we have never and will never rip anyone off.

I suspect this is a dishonest competitor.
