Sherman Acquisition Aka Alegis Group Aka Vital Collection ripoff by scaring you with bogus collection calls and letters Greenville South Carolina

I received my first bogus phone call from Samuel on a Sunday evening of a holiday weekend at 7:37 pm, stating that I owed money to Montgomery Ward. The problem is a) Montgomery Ward has been out of business since 2000 b) there was no Montgomery Ward anywhere near me and c) IT WAS A SUPPOSED DEBT FROM 1984!!!!!

I told him to take a hike and hung up.

The following Tuesday I received a message at home and recognized the same voice. I called and talked to Mr. Ford aks "Samuel" but he denied it. I think it's a one man operation. He said his parent company was Alegis Group. I called Alegis using the phone number he gave me. They said they were Sherman Acquisition and I owed $362. from 1984 that had been discharged in 1997!!!!!But they couldn't access MY CREDIT REPORT! What??? How did they get my UNLISTED phone number?

DON'T ever pay these people. The statute of limitations is 7 yrs. in most states and these people are leeches. I once had bad credit, and it's a scare tactic. They cannot hurt your credit report or legally collect on a debt that old.

Call or write your local better business bureau and report their bogus activity. This is shady and probably illegal in some way. They farm for bogus accounts and scare the bejesus out of people.

These collection companies are scum and low-life bottom feeders. Always make sure the call is from a legitimate company before paying anything. Take the time to call the BBB and check their legitimacy in your state. Help fight frauds like this!
