All State Relocation & Storage Vanlines, Charged for Sevices Not Rendered ripoff Davie Florida

We signed a contact with the company's sales rep, Walter Wayne, to pack and move our household goods from address above to 6540 NW 135th Avenue, Morriston, Florida 32668. The price was "not to exceed" $5,000.00. This included $1,235.00 travel time and $569.00 fuel charge. We gave the company a $500.00 deposit.

Our goods were packed on 1-3-06 and picked up on 1-4-06 with an anticipated delivery date of 1-6-06. After goods were picked up, we found out that our closing on our home in Pembroke Pines was going to be delayed and we arranged with the company to store our goods in the truck, locally, for a fee of $400.00/day (final storage fees paid - $2,400).

Finally, on 1-11-06 it was apparent that the closing would not take place, so we called the moving company to redelivery our goods back to the original pick up address. My husband spoke with a person whom only would identify himself as "the manager" on the evening of 1-11-06 and was told that the company would not subtract the travel time and fuel costs even though they did not have to move the goods to Morriston, FL. My husband then contacted Wayne Walter, our sales rep. Walter told my husband that he would be in the office the morning of 1-12-06 and "get it all taken care of, don't worry." At 10 am on 1-12-06 the movers showed up at our home and stated the total charges were $6,900.00 (7,400 - the 500.00 deposit). We should have just owed $5,096.

We tried to contact Walter on his two cell phones, the office number and his pager and could not reach him. The "manager" told my husband either we paid the full amount or he would call the police and take our stuff away. Police officers, T. Cerny and A. Lennon from the City of Pembroke Pines, arrived and stated there was nothing they could do. They stated they would not file any paperwork on the visit. I spoke with a lady whom stated her name was Chris at 800-452-0863 and she told me Walter could not help us and the problem was between us and the driver. She then put me on hold and never returned to the phone.

We finally ended up paying the amount the company wanted to get our goods returned to our home. My husband wanted to write on the paperwork that we did not agree with the total price, but "the manager" would not let us write anything on the paperwork, stating if we did he would not let the movers unload the truck.

A second complaint is originally Walter had us sign a form stating we were to get extra coverage for any damages (we have a copy) and in the final paperwork it states we will only be reimbursed 60 cents/lb. for damages.

We feel we were charged for services not provided by this company:
Travel Time: 1,235.00 + Fuel charge: $569.00, total $1,804.00. We would like the company to return this money for services they did not provide.
