At the end of August of 2007 I rented a storage unit from All Storage  of South Summerlin. At the end of December my place of employment permanently closed. After a waiting period i started to collect a small amount of un-employment and continued to pay for my storage unit. It was certainly a financial burden on me because i still had other bills as well as my housing to pay. After several months i went in to speak with the management because if the payment due was late they charged outrageous late fees and i did not have the money to pay them and did not want to lose the contents of my storage unit. Another couple were the site Managers at the time. I went in and spoke to Laura and explained my difficult financial situation and asked her if she could call or give me the Corporate Office telephone number so that I could work something out. I was told that she would call and let me know. On my next visit she said to me because i had been a customer for a long time they were willing to help me out. So instead of paying my regular monthly fee of $185.00 I was charged  $210.00 because the payment was a few days late and would continue to be a few days late because i had not secured employment as yet. In any case I went in on the 3rd of December to pay for the month of November. I directly spoke to Kayla and paid for the month of November and after receiving my receipt said i will see you first week in January. Now mind you i am not a spring chicken. I happen to be 62 and trying to find employment in a town that caters to it's youth it was very hard to find anything. i did find a part-time job that was barely paying for my rent let alone food, gas, insurance well i am sure you get the picture but still going in and paying for my storage unit. When I went in on January 6 to pay for December I was told that they had sold the entire contents of my storage unit. They then tried to tell me that "We did sent out notification by certified mail" like that would be enough of an excuse to sell everything i owned and you never did get caught up, well i was paying the late payment every month because i was a few days late and never more than 45 days so I said to Kayla "I was in here on the 3rd of December to pay for November and you never said "Anonomous, we are going to auction off your unit on December 29, 2009. We need more money or something. Neither her nor her husband Daniel said one word to me and you never see the General managers. This is clearly a SCAM and i will bet that they have done this many times to various customers. They have a total of eight locations all over Nevada. They knew on December 3rd that they had sent out a certified letter that i did not get because it got returned to their office and yet when I was in there failed to verbally convey that in the 10 minute conversation I had with Kayla. I had death certificate information, buriel papers that i needed, and a enormous amounts of intellectual property on my computer as well as some in print in boxes. Also years of tax information. Total amount of belongings more than $20,000.00 +. So much for their willing to work out anything when they could not mention what their plans were. I am still planning on seeking the help of an Attorney because what they did was wrong and i want most of my personal effects back. At my age it is impossible to recoup a lifetime of belongings. My biggest concern is that all of my personal information is out there in the hands of a stranger and everyone concerned knowingly sold that and more. All the individuals involved are unethical and work under the guise of "oh let us help you" when all they do is mislead and take advantage of persons who are going through hard times, trying to keep a roof over their head and pay for their storage unit until things get better.
