ALL TUNE AND LUBE, MOTORMATES ripoff swindler NORFOLK Virginia

In early august of 2002, I called All Tune and Lube/Motormates for a quote on having a rebuilt engine installed in my 1993 Nissen Altima. I was quoted a price of $2600.00 by Chuck, the manager.

This was to enclude the basic engine installation. We also agreed on a reduced price for installing both CV joints on the car, since the CV joints had to be removed anyway under the original labor cost.

I also requested that the front transmission seal be replaced while the engine as out. The car was kept by them for over three weeks. I had told them that my son needed the car inorder to attend college in late august.

I was told that they would work something out if it was not ready. I took this as implying that transportation for my son would be provided. The car was not ready in time and they came up with no offer or solution to his transportation problem.

He had to pay others to get him back and forth to school until the car was finished. On saturday,august 24,2002, I went to check on the car. It was not done. I was told that it would be ready by 3 P.M. that afternoon. I asked for the final amount due on the bill so that I could make an electronic money transfer to my account and write them a check at 3P.M., when I returned for the car. I also presented a $100.00 savings coupon for the engine installation and asked if I could use it.

Justin, the assistant manager told me yes, and made the deduction from the bill and printed out a copy of the bill for me. When I returned at 3P.M., the car was still not ready. I waited until it was done (over an hour.

When it came time to write the check for the final payment, I was told by Justin, that Chuck, the manager would not accept the coupon, because I had not shown it to him when I ordered the work to be done. He then pointed to a small sign, hidden behind the computer, in a corner, (not clearly visable without searching for it) that stated that coupons had to be presented at the beginning of the job.

I told him that the sign was not apparent and that it shouldn't make any difference on the price, unless they had planned on increasing my cost of the job inorder to cheat me out of the value of the coupon to start with.

I also stated that I felt that the $110.00 that they had charged me for waste disposal was inflated. I payed the addition $100.00 and left. What these people do is bait you with smooth talk and once they get the job, your screwed
