Our Complaint:
We agreed to use All You Can Move last summer. We requested and paid for packing, moving, and storing of our belongings. We were told that the packers would have all the materials (included in the price) and that our belongs be
placed on pattets, shrink wrapped and stored in a secure, climate controlled warehouse. The movers were 4 hours late and did not have proper packing materials. They "packed" our clothes in dirty packing blankets, packed our kitchen items in unpadded boxes, and put our pictures loose on the truck. We had to allow them to move because we had
made no other arrangements for storage services and no time to regroup. The only paperwork we got from them was an email with our initial order that said they had to cancel it and reschedule (it was the rescheduled date that they
were four hours late for arrival).
Several months later, we discovered that some important items had been taken by the movers against our instructions. We went to the All You Can Move warehouse in the NE part of Houston. We discovered our goods were piled in a hot, dirty unsecured warehouse alongside other peoples items. Upon discovering this, I made arrangements (at great cost to me) to move these items to a private, secure storage facility in Katy (not affiliated with the moving company). We even
had to tolerate a group of movers who mis-handled our goods and then wanted to follow me to my bank so I tip them for their poor service. Again, we were never given any paperwork (no bill of lading).
Once we finally moved our items out of storage this past month we discovered that we have someone elses box of items and four of our boxes are missing. These boxes held many of our family albums and keepsakes. We complained to the corporate office three times and were ignored, we asked the company to allow us access to their facility to look for our items - and had our request denied, and we finally asked for a copy of our bill of lading so we can file a claim - it has been 10 days and four phone calls from us - and still no bill of lading.
Their response (or lack of response):
Our final email to them was to ask for the address for their new storage facility in Houston so that we can deliver the box we were given which does not belong to us so that the person who does own it might not have to endure the horrible feelings we were going through over the loss of precious personal items. The moving company did tell us that in
January they moved into a new warehouse because the conditions were so bad in the one we had originally had our items stored in (and visited). They refused to give us the address and refused to let us visit this new location to look for our boxes, so we were hoping if we could deliver the box that did not belong to us they would at least let us
look for our missing boxes while we were there. Yet they are not respondingand we still have a box that belongs to someone else with no way of returning it.
How the complaint could be resolved:
We would like to 1) be able to return this unknown box and also
2) look for our 4 missing boxes in the current Houston warehouse. We
would also like
3) a copy of our bill of lading so in case we do not locate the boxes, we will be able to file a
claim. Since we had to move our items from their storage facility to our own in Oct. 2010 but did not move into our house until June 2011, we were not able to look through all of the boxes to
determine the full situation until June 2011. When the movers placed the boxes into our storage unit they did so in a way that we could only look at the front boxes without danger of heavy
furniture falling on top of our heads, so although we tried to look at the
boxes we could not do so until June 2011. For this reason, if we have to file a
claim,
4) we would like the 90 day
period for filing a claim waived. Under normal circumstances, if our items
had been stored properly, we would have had them stored at the All You Can Move
Houston warehouse until June 2011.
Final words:
All you can Move lost four of my boxes and they don't care. Once of the boxes was a large
wardrobe box and I asked Krista, the only person I have even been allowed to deal with, "how could such a large box disappear, it must be in the warehouse, can I go look?". Krista responded "sometimes boxes disappear and no, you cannot go look because I know it's not there and I am not wasting a $100 an hour moving man's time to help you do that when I know they are not there". I begged, I cried, I pleaded...to go look for my boxes since they contained baby pictures of my daughter that cannot be replaced since they were before we had digital photographs, and I was told "file a claim". But I cannot file a claim, because we were never given a bill of lading. They were supposed to email it to me and never did, I called four times, emailed twice, still nothing. I also have someones box that is NOT mine, they were supposed to pick it up and never showed, they ignored my email asking if I can drop it off so the person can get their stuff back. They truly, honestly JUST DON"T CARE.
