Allen & Sons Appliance Repair Incompetent, Lazy, or Just Plain Crooked? ripoff Canoga Park California

These people are shysters. I had them come out to examine my dishwasher because the soap dispenser wasn't opening when I ran the machine. The repairman told me he couldn't figure out what was going on, that he'd have to research it, and that he'd get back to me within 3 days.

When that didn't happen I called them. They said they'd call back after they researched it (again). They didn't call back in a timely fashion. I happened to be driving right by their store later in the day and went inside to inquire. I was told that the technician had concluded that the part was no longer available and I'd have to replace the whole door, which would cost $255.

It so happens that I had "researched" the issue myself on line and found what I believed to be the appropriate part for $18. When I told these clowns about it, they replied that it was possible someone had stocked up on the part -- but they dealt directly with Whirlpool, who told them the parts were no longer available.

So I called Whirlpool myself. Not only are the parts available (from Whirlpool with shipping the part costs $24) but when I described the problem to them over the phone they even advised me which part to buy.

I don't know if these people are lazy or stupid or what, but they are definitely liars. Rather than admit that they didn't have the expertise to diagnose the problem they just lied and said I'd have to replace the whole door. They suckered me in by charging much less than other companies to come out, but it's useless if they can't diagnose the problem.

I basically handed them $35 for no reason at all. You'd be better off staying away, getting a different repair service, and then throwing $35 off a freeway overpass
