I am married to a Truck driver and being 47 years old and my youngest child now in college, I decided I would learn to drive a Truck and Team with my husband and see the country,so I started looking for training.

I surfed the web for accredited training centers in or around the Roanoke Virginia area. Most would train you for free and put you in an apartment or motel IF you signed a 1 year contract to drive for them, this of course didnt fit my need so I proceded to look.

I ran up on an add From Alliance Tractor Training Center in my local newspaper, and it was only a 2 hour drive and I could go on the weekends and continue my job driving a school bus during the week.

I called and they sent a Rep. to my home and he painted a really nice picture about this company's training and all I need to be put into a class was $395.00,3 references, valid drivers licence (mine was a class B CDL) and I was set.COOL!! Right?

Wrong!I got my TEXT BOOKS in the mail and finished and passed all 10 lessons before I stepped into class. Now the next step was to go to Wytheville Va and start class. He failed to mention that I would need $6995.00 on the day that I was to arrive for class!

I got my credit card out and paid ,IN FULL,for my classes, and was told that IF FOR ANY REASON that I could'nt finish the training that Alliance would refund any monies that they owed me.

I started my classes in March 2008 and in June I had a heart attack and couldnt finish school.I filed for a refund on September 2nd 2008 and was told I would recieve $1982.00 in 30 days.I waited for 4 days,no refund,60 days,no refund! After 90 days I made the 3rd phone all to Wytheville about the refund.I was told to call Corporate Office.

I did!! I was brushed off.QUICKLY Brushed off.I called back to Wytheville.I was told to call Corporate.I called Corporate.I was brushed off again, told to call Wytheville.I called Wytheville told them to call Corporate and call me back!

Wytheville called me back and said that Corporate was busy with other refunds and that it would be after the 1st of January 2009 before they get to mine!I doubt it!!
Please dont give these people your money!!!If something should happen you're out of it!

I finally got my money back

AUTHOR: Brenda davis - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 06, 2011

I am writing to let everyone know that I DID get my money back FINALLY after almost 3 years and 100's of phone calls. They owed me just over $1900.00 and when the checks started coming in it was $200.00,$250.00, a little here a little there,BUT I had to call them every month to remind them that they owed me.I spoke with a very nice lady in the NC office and she stayed on top of it.The last check I got was for just a little over $600.00.I feel sorry for anyone who is owed a dime by this company....you will have to work harder to get it back than you would to take the class. In my case I had just a few hours left of class and had a heart attack and couldnt finish. And no you will never get the $495.00 back. They keep that which isnt right either.I hate to say it but anyone who makes the call to Alliance will make the biggest mistake they ever made.I know several who completed the class but have gotten no where with the training.Good Luck to any of you who are thinking about joining Alliance, you're going to need it.

About possible legal action

AUTHOR: JeffP - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, June 05, 2011

This is to the one there that evidently works for Alliance or whatever.. When the recruiter came and talked to me about placement in the classes I was informed that Alliance had over 90,000 successful graduates or something??? See?? Its a different story with you Alliance people all the time. Now I dont  know exactly what ones are true or false on here but, why would an individual get on this site and make a false statement about being ripped off by this company?? Evidently your traveling recruiters are trained to sugar coat everything they say about the training facility and all.. If a person cannot attend a the training then there money should be refunded no matter if its enrollment fee or tuition money.. As in my case, I paid $495 bucks for enrollment and I am not attending.. That money should be refunded to me no questions asked and as I paid it CASH MONEY!!!! None of this waiting for refund papers and this and that, send your little recruiter back to my home hand me my money and I give the books back.. And besides, these cheap old broke down little yellow paper back books arent even worth $495 bucks!!! Your luck that half the people on here that have complained arent filing suit against your facility for financial set back and mental anguish!! Because quite frankly when that guy Richard spoke to me in person and over the phone, he acts as he is your best friend in the world, not a business agreement between two people and that really sells to someone, its wrong.. So I ask, what you gonna file your suits for??? More money against everyone?? Need to fatten your wallets up more up there in WytheVille??? Please.. this site is legal and legit and it was created for a reason.. And they dont charge an outrages ammount of money either for people to tell there storys about how they were financially hurt buy your company..

Re:False Report

AUTHOR: Brenda davis - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I have no idea what part of these statements are false but rest assured that mine are not.I have followed the steps that I was told to to the ''T'' and I know what I've been told and what my Attorney was told when he started making call to Alliance a year ago. As a matter of fact when I was in the classroom a student had to drop out the first week and the instructor told the class and I quote his as saying''It will be a loooooong time before he gets a refund.'' My statements are true and I wouldnt have made them had someone returned my calls and explained as to why my refund would be delayed.

Read all before I signed on the dotted line

AUTHOR: Brenda davis - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 18, 2010

To Ken in Asheville,
I read the contract and there is a clause in it that states that if for any reason you cant finish the class that Alliance will refund a portion of your money depending on the hours that you do not complete.I have had a local Attourney look it over and he said that my claim is legit.I am so disgusted with this mess that I cant hardly believe that they are allowed to continue ripping people off. There are others that have contacted me thru email wanting to Protest in front of the Corporate headquarters and in Wytheville. Also there is a television station in Roanoke Va that will do investigative reporting and air it on the local news.I called again today and got the same old Leave your name and Number. The director is out for the day.I will wait to see if I get a call back the I plan to sick the Media on them and then file suit.

AUTHOR: Brenda davis - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, October 18, 2010

It is October 18,2010 and once again I have called Alliance to enquire on my refund and once again I have been told that they could take my name and number and have the director call me back and once again I know that they are full of bologna!I have just about had it with them and am going to file suit the 1st of November. And in response to the question of wheather my husband can train me.....I already know how to and can drive a Tractor Trailer.....it's not that simple....you have to go thru training to get the license. It's not a matter of driving its the license and I paid dearly for that training. They owe me I dont owe them a dime!

YOUR HUSBAND CAN'T TRAIN YOU FOR FREE?

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, March 28, 2009

MY UNCLE TRAINED ME TO DRIVE A SEMI AND I USED HIS TRUCK TO TAKE THE DRIVING TEST WHICH I PASSED.

YOUR HUSBAND CAN SHOW YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEED YOU NEED TO PASS THE DRIVING PART OF THE CDL AND HEP YOU WITH THE REST OF IT TOO.

IF YOU WANT AN HONEST TRUCK DRIVING INSTRUCTION GO TO YOUR LOCAL JUNIOR COLLEGE AND TAKE IT THERE IF THEY HAVE ONE.

BETTER, CHEAPER, HONEST ---- STAY THE HELL OFF THE INTERNET AND GET YOUR GOODS AND SERVICES LOCALLY.

Once again you can't trust them...

AUTHOR: Notgonnatakeit44 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, March 27, 2009

Ok first off if you want a job as a "territory rep" with Alliance then you have one. They hire anyone, no matter of education or work experience. Also they don't technically hire you, you come on as an independent contractor. Its their way of not paying taxes or benefits for employees. They are a very shady group. Especially the director in Arden, NC...a very arrogant and shady character.

I'm just curious...

AUTHOR: Ken - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, March 15, 2009

did you READ all the paperwork prior to signing on the dotted line and handing them your money? Never just "take someone's word for it". READ the material and protect yourself. But if they're stalling you for the sake of stalling you, that is wrong, and I hope they pay for it.

I have never dealt with the Wytheville, VA facility. I trained at the old Dunn, NC location (since closed). It was a good facility with good instructors, and the director was a stand-up guy. Our class had an issue with some pre-trip training that was never completed (weather issues, I recall...it was January of 1996). When this was brought to his attention, we were allowed to re-study that practical and retest. But I almost wish I had been able to train at Wytheville, as that would have given me more mountain driving experience. As it turned out, I started my driving career with a carrier that did a lot of mountain driving, and I had a good trainer.

Let me also add that following my initial inquiry, I too was visited by a traveling rep. Because of the size of the territory they cover, it wasn't practical for them to have a traditional office, and I can understand that, having worked from my home in the past as well.

Please read all your paperwork before your hire an attorney. And I wish you good luck.

I am so sorry that Alliance mislead you just like many others. As an ex-employee in Wytheville, VA I know exactly how unethical these people are. They shouldn't be allowed to mislead people like this. Please don't go to their "school" for training, its not worth it.

Okay - they have website: www.alliancetractortrailer.com. I requested them to contact me - they sent me an application in mail. I just didn't feel right about dealing with this company because they don't have an address listed. They gotta P.O. box. Than some guy calls me from a Cell Phone. I'm like why call me from a cell? Why not an office phone? P.O. boxes and cell phones? That right there let me know that this company is very unprofessional.
