Luckily! I subscribe to an Identity Guard Reporting agency, I was alerted to look up my credit files for what seem to be a "change of new account" . Upon doing so, I found out that, thru "Experian Credit reporting" (www.experian.com/rs/fi1.html) this company ALLIANCEONE INC had placed a "collection claim" for what they said, was an "undisclosed amount" on a legal and lawful FICO credit reporting agency.
I contacted my credit PROTECTION company and ask for their help, to be told, who this people where, since I did not recalled having applied for any credit the last 4yrs, I do not have any delinquent outstanding loans, nor do I recognize this business!.
I found out that: "The information that this company supplies to the credit bureaus was only their name: "Allianceone Inc" and then upon inquiry done by paid ID protection agency, the bureau provided their number phone as 877-714-8191". with a confirmation that ;
" This is a collection/unpaid debt matter on your credit" and the balance is $0.
BUT (this gets better!):
IT WILL SHOW ON YOUR CREDIT AS A "UNPAID COLLECTIONS AND DINGS! YOUR FICO SCORE" they DO NOT supply me with:
An account # ( for you to determine what this is ?) ,
No Legal address ( for you to sent a letter or claim or report to the County DA ) No amount of debt, it said $0. ( so you would not know what you're talking about! Can this be a scam for them to get you to 'open your mouth' about how much they can ripoff out from you ?
cause CERTAINLY A COLLECTION DING ! can affect your FICO SCORE!
How is it possible they can get away with just that! thru a legal venue? it's an underestimated form of human intelligence! better known as a "legally moronic system!"
When I called the number provided, a woman answered the phone "pronouncing the company name, as if she had a muzzle on her mouth" and immediately proceed to ask me, "to give her my name and address and social security"
WARNING:
( This was the first thing, I was told by the guy at my "ID protection company" NOT TO GIVE THEM! when calling! so glad "my anti-thief payments" where indeed working! he said it's the #1 and easiest form for a thief to steal more information about you! because YOU THINK that by them having 'reached your FICO reporting bureau's they most likely ALREADY have both ( I thought, how else are they allowed to POST IT IN YOUR REPORT! to get your attention !)
But to my shock! ... the opposite is what they ONLY NEED "ONLY ONE or the OTHER" ... G-d willing now you would NOT GIVE THEM BOTH! which is what they would need : To place a FULL claim! and then they LEGALLY CAN say you OWE THEM MONEY and they WOULD NOT release the NEGATIVE REPORT UNTIL YOU PAY !!
So, I waited for her to stop breathing for a sec, and slowly asked her "to please spell the name of her company or business" assuring her that I would give her my info as soon as I was clear, that I was calling the right business '''because why waste more of her precious time, right?"
She proceeded (in muffled voice) to spell ALLIED (instead of ALLIANCEONE, INC).
I immediately said: I am sorry that name, is it I spelled ALLIED? and am I calling 877-714-8191.
She: Rapidly, (in clear voice) and with no doubt whatsoever responded yes!, now please give me the spelling of your first and last name and address.
I said: Well, I guess I might have to call back my credit bureau for either " a correct name or number" since it look as, if they gave me this number with an incorrect name! see, I received a notification ..... and before I was finished ... she interrupted and said : 'this is the correct collection company" and I need for you to give me that or else your credit will continue to be tarnished.
I said: I will gladly give you what you ask for if first you answer my questions, just so I know you are legit
She said : yes, this is a Collection business (then went quiet)
I said: I see you are a Corporation Right?
she said : yes!
I said: A California corporation?
She said : yes!
I said: OK, so can I first please have your CA Corporation Number or TIN
(Tax Identification Number) since it's Legal under the CA Law, to have to disclose that to a consumer, you do business with , and I believe now I am being one of those!
She said: I can find that information now.
I said :May I speak to your Supervisor or Manager to see if they can provide it ?
She said: He can't provide that either, she then proceeded to tell me that she have to put me on hold ...but I was transfered to a recorded message ...instructing me to : Leave my name, addresses and phone number and MY call will be return shortly !
WARNING > DO NOT DO THAT ! (most likely they only had your name and are placing a 'blind collection search on your report" )
So, Right !! big fat chance I am going to do that! ... just so they can later send me "a collection or debt bill to MY correct address" and if I was to call them back ... again, "you may think" they already have ALL INFO, and they will insist you provide them with your SS#! so they can retrieve .... "your NEW" account!!
This slammers are getting smarter and our government dumber than, Dumb itself! I say !

Do you have a debt that you were making payments on that was paid off? The reason I ask is this. You stated they listed a collection account, but have your balance at zero. Let me tell you a little story that happened to me recently.
I had a doctor bill that had been sent to collections, however I called the doctor and made payment arrangements. The doctor informed the collection agency I would be making payments, so the collection agency never placed the debt on my credit report because I was making the payments ontime.
I paid off the debt 2 years ago. 3 months ago, a collection agency dinged my credit report, placing a collection account with zero owed. When I called them asking them why they did that, they stated that they updated my account to show the balance as zero and were sorry they didn't update it 2 years ago when I paid them off. What they didn't realize was that they never reported it as a bad debt to the bureaus. So, when they updated it as a paid debt, it went on my report as a new collection with a zero balance.
When the realized they never reported it as a bad debt, they immediately took it off my credit report.

I tried my best to understand your complaint, but it was extremely difficult since your grammar is not great (for lack of a better word).
AllianceOne is one of the most reputable companies in our country. Having said that, by the tone of your script, you seem hostile and you deeply believe you know what you are talking about. You do not have a clue about your rights about collections. You have many rights as a debtor, but what you have stated as "references," well, they are inaccurate.
I would highly suggest that you do a little more research before you try to taint a companies reputation; I'd also suggest that you pay your bills, because if you did that, you would not be in the situation that you are.
I never understood why we as adults never accept our responsibilities and always try to blame someone else for our faults.
