While going through some old mail today I found an envelope from Canada. I opened it and out fell a Cashiers Check from a Smart Financial Credit Union in Houston Texas, in the amount of $3,583.99. It was dated April 9, 2014. Aparently it had been stock to another piece of mail.
The check looks very real, has my name on it along with a RE: Megan Forest name. Having been in Law Enforcement for many years I was suspicious of the check. Reading the enclosed paperwork made me more suspecious. It said I was among the winners of Communication Lottery Sweepstakes Million Dollar Drawing.
It went on to say I had not collected my winnings in the amount of $246.416.01 and that the check enclosed was to help pay taxts,insurance, Handling & Shipping fees. The claims manager put his name on the paper as Harry Mason, and phone number.
The letter looks very authentic but I know that I had not entered any sweepstakes and I also know that no one gets anything for free. I went to my computer put in the name of Allied Co-operative and found it immediately on your site. I certinly could use this money as most people could but I know better then to take it to my bank without checking it out first.
Because of your site it saved me from making a big mistake. I thank you for that. I tink these kind of people are beneath contempt and should be stopped. I will keep this letter & check and laugh at it each time I see it.
