If what Allied Interstate is doing is illegal and violating the FDCPA, why do they continue to harass innocent debt-free indivduals such as myself?

I am harassed by them often.. calling with recorded messages to call them back in regards to a debt.

I have no debt.

After finally speaking to their incredibly rude workers, who by the way, hang up on you every dad-blamed time, I was told they were looking for someone with a different name. Despite my telling them I was not even who they were looking for, the woman became very rude and hung up on me.

(Now, why do they have the chip on their shoulder? I am the one who is being harassed.. THEY are the ones who are mistaken.)

They keep calling back! Today, they did the same thing to my elderly, sick Mom, causing her to get upset and before my Mom could even explain she was not the person with the debt they were looking for.. you guessed it.. they hung up.

Then, we got another call from them that showed on our caller i.d (866-898-3993) when my Mom answered... they didn't say a word, just sat there holding the phone.
How tacky is that? That is true childish harassment.

I tried once again to call them back, asking them to remove my parents' number from their list,
The woman working for them is an absolute belligerent hag! She started screaming.. yes screaming..
and accusing my Mom of being rude, then hung up on me yet again.??
(How do they ever expect to get anything accomplished by hanging up on people?)

Please tell me this company is not a legitimate one.. I can't believe what occured.

Can ANYTHING be done to stop their calls? How can I report them?

Been down that road myself

They're complete idiots, I know. They deliberately look for individuals who MAY have HAD an outstanding debt at one time and try to collect it again long after it's been paid off. They tried to get $80 from me for a phone bill I had paid off two years prior. I filed with the BBB and Allied agreed that the debt was invalid IN WRITING. Guess what? 6 months later I got a letter in the mail from them offering to settle the SAME bill for $60. Talk about STUPID!!

Talking isn't going to stop them, as you're learning.

OK. No more talk! Time for action that creates a paper trail so that if they call you further, you have set the stage to teach them a lesson.

It's simple, really. Simply send them a certified, return receipt requested letter identifying yourself and the phone number they are calling. Clearly state that you have no financial interests with them or the person they are trying to locate and that they are to stop calling you effective immediately. Also point out to them in your letter that you will interpret ANY further communication by them to you as deliberate harassment for the purpose of inflicting emotional pain.

If they are fool enough to contact you after they receive the letter, simply go to your county DA office and file a criminal complaint for aggrevated harassment. You should consult an attorney to determine if you would like to instill an additional lesson on them by suing them in civil court for intentionally inflicting emotion stress and pain.

The letter WILL STOP the phone calls, unless they are complete idiots.
