In January 2002 I agreeed to a settlement with Allied Interstate Inc. for a previous account that had become delinquent. This credit card had been charged off in 2001 by Citibank.
They used every technique in the book, bordering on harrasment, so I took out a loan to settle the account. I recieved faxed information saying that they would accept this payment as a final settlement of my account.
Since that time they sold the account for the amount they said would be forgiven. Each agency that the account goes to, adds additional money so the balance keeps creeping back up. The promise to remove the item from my credit report, and to send a formal letter never took place.
I'm so tired of sending certified letters proving that I have already settled this account. Please someone tell me what I can do to stop all of this.
