30years ago I had a credit card from Ciitbank.  I paid it off and they were happy to cancel my debt.  Now I get this notice from Allied Interstate regarding a debt to the amount of 6522.95 I presumably owe to them as a third party collector.  I have just paid off every loan and debt I ever had, and now have good credit again.  This is the second time I have gotten this kind of notice, from a company I now know was a subsidiary, one of the shell companies for this very thing. My response then was to throw it away and forget it, due to advice from this site.

According to Bud Hibbs report on this company LLC, they are bad news bears who are getting away with murder. I want to file a suit against them, and would like to know who to go to in the Ventura County area as I do not have the ability to go to LA.  I am on SSI and know they cannot touch me, but I read that they can still damage my credit if I don't do something.  Can someone help me?

Thank you.

Don't ingore them - make sure they know they can't collect

Do not ignore their letters.  They could attempt to get a default judgement against you.  You need to reveiw the debt in question and determine if it is past the statute of limitations for your State.  If so, write them a letter telling them this fact and that they are not to contact you further and that if they attempt to place this debt on your credit file you will sue.   These are bottom feeders that purchase stale dated debt for pennies on the dollar.

Do not ignore them but don't pay them either.   Read up on the FDCPA and make sure you understand your rights.  The Buddy Hibb site is a good place to start.
