WOW, WHAT A RIP-OFF!!!!!!

I contacted ALLSAT about its unbelieveable offer. Free Satellite Receiver with 12 monthly payments of $22.99 each.

First, the company (nor its web-site) NEVER mentioned that I would be required to pay for equipment shipping. Then, after the equipment arrived, their installation crew told me that because of my neighbor's trees, I would not get a viewable reception so there was no need to install the dish.

I had to then pay to send the equipment back to Allsat and incur a $25 restocking charge. When I spoke with the owner and told him I did not feel I should pay for shipping both ways and the restocking fee, he said "since I want to complain, he will (fraudulently) charge my credit card $295.

I asked Dish Network to help me with this situation since Allsat is one of its distributors. They said since I was NOT their customer, they couldn't do nothing.

So, I'm out almost $100 for breaking an agreement which was NOT my fault. I was even willing to pay the 12 month fee in advance. Now, I have no satellite service, out my money, and NO ONE is willing to help.

This company deserves to be in the Hall-of Shame. The web site is shown below. Please please...don't get ripped-off like me. I'm happy if I can help just one person avoid this nasty business/business-owner.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

I have a constructive solution to this issue

AUTHOR: Ernest - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 10, 2006

I have read numerous complaints posted on Rip Off Reports about AllSat which are unwarranted. There is a lot of misunderstanding on the part of the consumer because they - perhaps - did not read the Terms (allsat.com/terms.php) of their agreement.

If AllSat were guilty of fraud, they wouldn't be in business. Ben Solberg is well within his rights to enforce the contractual agreement made by YOU, the consumer, whether you read it or not.

It is YOUR duty to do your "due diligence" and read any agreement that you sign off on, whether it is written in hard copy or electronic (on a web site). There is a link provided at the bottom of the site and it is there for a reason. They have the legal right to enforce their terms whether you understood it or not.

Trying to discredit AllSat, or any other company, through the use of subterfuge wouldn't "hold water" if it were taken to a court of law, and reporting it in a forum of this sort doesn't rectify a solution.

Usual one sided story here

It is important that if a business is going to have certain policies that they make these known to the customer in the most evident of places. If a business does this then they should not be slandered or falsly accused for enforcing them. Many online retailers, including AllSat, are in the business of discounting electronics, we discount satellite systems. It is common for internet retailers that discount electronics to charge reasonable restocking fees in exchange for lower upfront hardware prices. We have all of our customers, including this one, sign a one page agreement which states, amongst other things... "$25 restock fee." Since an open box item must be discounted to the next customer, and since we don't sell at retail prices, we help offset this by charging a very reasonable restock fee. If the customer orders a product it is understood that a product needs to be shipped to them and shipped back if returned. Unless an advertisement online says 'FREE S&H' then it is reasonable to assume that there will be a charge for this. All S&H information is available online where the customer made their purchasing decision, even though this customer says it isn't. Our website even states... "You will pay shipping in both directions if you return your dish. Before you order, be sure you have a location that will work and permission to have it installed." This is listed here... http://www.allsat.com/install.html. This customer states they are out almost $100 which I believe to be another untruth. Shipping, even if both ways, and a $25 restock fee do not equate to $100. Returns are not a profitable thing for our business as the customer seems to imply. Lastly, we did not tell the customer that if they wanted to complain that we would charge them $295. What happened was the customer informed us about their intention to violate their signed agreement with our company and we in turn warned them that we would enforce any violation of the agreement so that they thought twice trying to rip us off.
