Alltel's Breach of Privacy-

If you are a subscriber of Alltel Cellular Communications, your privacy may and can be made public. Alltel Cellular Service gave my personal information to another customer. An investigation needs to be conducted of Alltel. I have never dealt with a company that is as unwilling to resolve a customer complaint as Alltel. There is nothing Alltel can do to regain my respect and trust.

My personal detail billing information (which supposedly does not exist for pre-paid accounts) was faxed to a Charleston, SC, Alltel retail store for another customer to pickup. This person was not on my contract.

Alltel refuses to accept any responsibility for their actions. I have no other recourse than to take this type of behavior to the national news media and to the badbusinessbureau.com since the Better Business Bureau has judged that Alltel has acted responsibly in responding to the Bureau regarding my complaint and although I remain dissatisfied with Alltel's response, no further action will be taken and my complaint has been closed "administratively judged responsible".

I think everyone should know that his/her privacy is not private with Alltel and that anyone can obtain personal and private information just by calling and verifying name, phone number, social security number, and address of record (which in my case no one knew of the address on the account except Alltel).

Had Alltel followed its own procedures regarding the release of customer information, no detail billing information would have been faxed nor given out. Alltel did not request the address of record on the account. Had they done so, the release of any information would not have happened! This type of behavior and breach of promise needs to be brought to the attention of higher officials that regulate cellular phone companies.

My Question is did AllTel admit to faxing the records to the store?

If Alltel admits to faxing the records, (call Alltel and ask (demand) them to read the notes on the account. If the notes do state it was faxed to the store, then this is a clear violation of Alltel Policy. NO customer records are to be faxed. They are only to be mailed to the address or printed at the retail store location.

I believe Alltel is a great company. The only reason I would disclose this policy is that too often I see records being faxed to store locations. I have pissed off countless reps and customers because I would refuse to fax records to a retail store. I hope this does send a ripple to enforce this policy.
