I would like to begin a lawsuit on this bogus company in which I lost a job and sent them 900 dollars via credit card. I was informed that I would receive a life experience degree that was accreditted by the US dept of education which was untrue. I never received any degree since May 2015. I have resigned from my prior job due to being offered another job. A background check was conducted and stated this was not an accreditted school and I lost the opportunity to be employed. Can someone please help me I have approximately 20 years experience in the field of Human services and have been unemployed since May 2015,

Almeda University Almuni Here

I am sorry that you feel the degree you earned did not open dorrs for you as anticipated.  The DOE allows colleges and universities alot of independence and its really what you make of it. I am an attendee of a community college, I later attendended and graduated from a private college (and paying thousands of dollars) for an AA degree. I continued onto my BA but it was just taking to long as an adult learner.  I recieved my degree from Almeda in 2008, and yes I also took some online courses. I found the courses to be rigorous and helped me with my job skills (communications, etc).

I work in the educaitonal field and I tell my employers about my degree not accredted by the DOE but is recognized by NOAH.  I have yet to have a problem advancing on the job front but then again, I  have continued on with other credentials and certifications in my field (Accounting/HR). I would suggest that you do that same.  Good luck!

What??

How did you expect to get a degree without going to classes?? This is nothing more than a worthless diploma mill that churns out fake diplomas. These degrees are nothing more than "novelty items". SO you quit your job then that is your problem and yep you got ripped off.

Here is the low down on them:

In 2011, the U.S. News University Directory, operated by U.S. News & World Report, published an article about online education that favorably mentioned Almeda's master's degree program in psychology. Inside Higher Ed reported in June 2011 that the U.S. News website had removed the posting after being alerted that Almeda "is not recognized as a legitimate degree-granting university by the U.S. Department of Education or any mainstream accrediting agency." Website editors stated their commitment to "focus on accredited colleges and universities" and blamed an "editorial oversight" for the site's use of an Almeda press release.[19]
