We live in a development having approximately 150 high end homes.  All of the homes having Alpine/Associated Materials/Alside Materials windows started having window failures after a couple years.  These failures aren't just failed seals, the insert spacers actually rust, rot and disintegrate resulting in a structural failure.  We all were told that Alpine Windows, who sold and installed the windows, went out of business so tuff luck.  Now we are finding out that Alside Materials, Alpines parent through Associated Materials, also a parent, uses these same practives all over the country by setting up shell companies, there are dozens of these all over the country right now.  There should be laws against companies like this one.  They take business away from honest companies.

Wondering if original complainant was able to follow up and get proper help with the windows!

AUTHOR: Donnie - (United States)

I work at a big box store and am a 13 year millwork specialist.. I see companies like this all the time, over promise and under deliever. I have seen these tags on windows many, many times over the years. Just recently I had a client who thought they bought their windows with us and when he emailed me the tag it was different than what I am used to seeing on our windows.

After a quick google search I was able to find out the window that was falling apart was indeed a 0901 DH vinyl window from Allside. I just emailed the client the contact info for I could find for the company.

Allside windows/Ohio/TEL:330-922-5350/TOLL FREE:800-257-4335/EMAIL: information@alside.com

I would like to find a soloution for my client on his failing windows. If there is another number I can have him call it would be appreciated! Also for future clients.

#2 Consumer Suggestion

Alpine Windows are still in business

AUTHOR: Windows Pittsburgh - (USA)

POSTED: Saturday, February 06, 2016

I am a Alside dealer serving the Pittsburgh and Western PA area. Associated Material / AMI is the parent company of Alside and still manufactures New Construction windows under the brand name "Alpine. Contrary to what you have posted Alpine Windows are still made and installed in new construction nationwide. Here is a link to their website: alpinewindowsystems.com/  Here is the Alpine window warranty: alpinewindowsystems.com/media/2500/alpinewarranty.pdf

I suggest you go to the website and download the warranty. The warranty on Alpine vinyl windows transfers one time and the new ower is responsible for transferring the warranty into their name. I suggest you contact your local Alside Supply Center in your area and speak to the service department.

Our company has been selling Alside Windows and patio doors for 2 years and the service I have received has been absolutly fantastic.

What is disturbing to me is that you were told by someone that Alpine Windows went out of business. What is very common in the window / home remodeling business is that small fly by night companies operate for several years under a name. After several years they go out of business and two weeks later open under a new name. AMI / Alside has been in business since 1947 and manufacturer over 3 million windows per year nationwide. Alside does stand behind their products. I strongly suggest you contact your local Alside Supply Center in your area for service. Please Google: Alside Supply Center in your city and contact them.

The Facts

AUTHOR: AMI Customer Relations - (United States of America)

We truly understand your frustration, but to be clear, Alpine Industries, Inc. is a company that went into bankruptcy in 2000.  They manufactured windows.  Associated Materials Inc. (aka Alside) purchased certain Alpine Industries, Inc. assets from the bankruptcy court in October, 2000.  Associated Materials Inc. was not a parent to Alpine Industries, Inc. and was not affiliated with Alpine Industries Inc. in any way either before or after the bankruptcy proceeding.

Associated Materials Inc. purchased equipment, materials, leases and the right to use the name Alpine in Associated Materials Inc. product offerings.  As a condition of the asset purchase, the bankruptcy court specifically held that Associated Materials Inc. was not to be considered a successor company to Alpine Industries Inc. and did not have warranty or product liability for products manufactured by Alpine Industry Inc.   Associated Materials Inc. would not have purchased the assets of Alpine Industries, Inc. had it not been for the bankruptcy court decree as Associated Materials Inc. did not intend to purchase the liabilities of a bankrupt company.

Associated Materials Inc. (aka) Alside is not and never has been a parent of Alpine Industries, Inc. and there are no shell companies in existence.  Because Associated Materials Inc. purchased the right to use the Alpine name in its product offerings the perception exists it that Associated Materials Inc.   somehow may be related to Alpine Industries, Inc. but that is an incorrect perception.

Window and patio door products purchased under the Alpine brand, manufactured by Associated Materials Inc., are covered by the terms of our warranty.  If this is the case, we invite you to contact us directly at 800-489-1144.
