Alternative Resources Corp/Pomeroy ARC rips off Contractors for mileage between P&G sites Hebron Kentucky

Alternative Resources Corp (ARC) is a subsidiary of Pomeroy IT Solutions and had a computer support contract with Procter and Gamble in the Southern Ohio region.

I was assigned to computer desktop support in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. I did a good job that was recognized by ARC and I was shifted to another P&G site that had a last minute vacancy (contractor suddenly quit should have been a warning to me). Initially, ARC told me that my new assignment would be at a location where all of these sites were within walking distance.

However when I arrived, they informed me that I would have to use my own car at my personal expense to travel between each of the remote sites scattered throughout the city. I found myself part of a team responsible for over 10 large buildings at 5 scattered locations and my driving 75 miles weekly on my car to travel to these sites.

When I realized the excess milage and kept track of the driving in a log, I called ARC to discuss reimbursement for driving expenses. I talked to ARC for several months about this travel expense concern, but ARC refused to reimburse me for daily mileage required for me to travel between these sites on company time to fulfill the customer job requirements. I was not paid a per diem amount to cover expenses.

Consequently, I asked P&G staff how other contractors handled travel expenses, and I was told they were reimbursed for business mileage. ARC refused to discuss reimbursement and P&G chose to not get involved. As a result, I gave ARC 30 days advance notice I would leave my job due to this expense dispute.

The ARC recruiter later called and threatened that they would give me a bad referal to anyone who asked because I backed out on the contract when ARC refused to reimburse me for legitimate business expenses. Three days before I was to leave the company, ARC backed down and offered to reimburse for all gas expenses from that point forward (they would not reimburse me for several prior months of travel). I told ARC that I had accepted another job and was insulted by their treatment of me, particularly since I did a good job for them at client sites.
