I found a POLICE OFFICER job opening for the Kwajalein Police Department on "policejobs.com". Just so you know "Kwajalein"...this is a little island 4,300 miles south-west of San Francisco out in the Pacific Ocean-NEAR GUAM in the "Marshall Islands". The island itself is 1.5 sq miles AND CONTROLLED BY THE US ARMY. . Per the sheet of paper they sent me, when I did my application, there is about 1,200 US Citizens on this "missile base" on this little island which is a 3 hour flight from Hawaii.
This island is a US MISSILE BASE...THAT'S WHY THEY WANT YOU TO GET YOU TO GET "SECURITY CLEARANCE". I applied for the job becuase as they say "tropical paradse" and what a better job to do...get paid....get a "security clearance" from our goverment...and be in t tropical resort.
Then I started looking this place up on "Google"....this place seems to have allot of REAL SERIOUS problems...starting with abuse of the native people by some of the the less than qualified people they are hiring. It seems from reading the web pages I found, and talking with "officers" who were on the island the whole place is corrupt. YET, after 25 years with the Los Angeles Police Dept and being a "honorbale police officer" who is true to his oath of office, I filled out all of this companies paper work HONESTLY. This guy in Alabama was all hot for me to get my paper work done fast so I could go over and start working...until they read my medical history and found out I have HIV. I have had it since the 1980's and it IS NOT A PROBLEM- i am fine and I worked my whole life with it! IT HAS NEVER BEEN A PROBLEM AND THE LAW IS CLEAR WHEN IT COMES TO THIS-YOU CANNOT USE THIS AS A MEANS TO NOT HIRE A PERSON...YET what the e-mail said today. I was bluntly told in an E-MAIL THAT BECUSE I have HIV and the "army won't give you a waiver"....geezzz who is hiring me? the Army or the Police Dept????
I worked my whole career with it in LOS ANGELES. The law is clear in the case...I am covered by The Americans with Disability Act...yet in 2011 I get an "e-mail" FROM SOME RED-NECK IN ALABAMA the "army" SAYS I AM UNFIT TO WORK because I have HIV...these people were not even shy about this---it was IN YOUR FACE! One has to wonder now if those web sites TALKING about THE ABUSE OF ISLANDERS out in the Marshall islands is true! AFTER ALL WHO IS GONNA GO OUT AND INVESTIGATE THE CLAIMS? CLEARLY THIS COMPANY THINKS NOTHING OF BREAKING THE LAW ON AMERICAN SOIL. BE CAREFUL WITH HIS COMPANY AND THIS LOCATION....IT IS A LONG LONG WAY FROM HOME AND YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET BACK ONCE YOU ARE STUCK ON THIS ISLAND. THIS CLEARLY HAS PROBLEMS...

First... The Marshall Islands are not American soil so your entire premise is flawed. A little research and you would have found that the Marshall Islands do not admit HIV positive people. The "Americans with Disabilities Act" doesn't apply in a foreign country. Your complaint should be taken up with the government of the Marshall Islands. Any time the US is operating in a foreign country they must accomodate that country's laws.
The agreement for the Missile Test base there is between the governments of the United States and the Marshall Islands. The Army operates the base and controls all contracts.
I suspect it wasn't a case of "won't" but a case of "can't" as far as a waiver. Probably poor wording in their response to you. Possibly they never asked for a waiver because they already knew what the answer would be. The Army isn't going to ask for a waiver from the government of the Marshall Islands for a civilian when there are so many other qualified people applying.
The allegations of corruption are made by one person. I've seen his site. You may believe those allegations but they do not constitute proof they are true. The main allegation was that there was a "double standard" which allowed local leaders access to things that the "common folk" weren't. Also that certain families had power and money and didn't use it to help more people. That's life in a big part of the world. Thank God that you're American. Short of taking over the world and instituting our will by force, there isn't much we can do about it.
