Received a letter today from ALW Sourcing, LLC on an ancient account with Citibank. This account is well past the statute of limitations for collection. The "creditor' is listed as Pinnacle Credit Services, LLC.

Oddly, we received the same letter last year regarding the same Citibank account from "Merchants Credit Guide Co" listing Pinnacle Credit Services as the creditor. We proactively called them on the phone at that time (they were TOTALLY abusive and vulgar) and told them we did not owe that debt and the following day we got an email basically saying, "Oops, our bad, never mind" (how weird was that?!) and the matter was dropped; never heard a peep about it again until just now.

Yeah, I'd love to get a lawyer and get us all together on a suit.

The inquiry does NOT appear on our credit report! What's up with that? So if anyone has any advice on what to do or what not to do I'd sure appreciate it. Because apparently this Zombie Debt is not going away.

Thanks for your help.

Zombie Debts

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

The fact is that a debt never goes away until it is paid. Now, after a certain amount of time you are under no legal obligation to pay it anymore. Because of this the older it gets the less of a chance companies will come after you. The ones that do are the Junk Debt Buyers who hope to take advantage of people who do not know this..if anything that is the actual Rip Off.

Also, a negative item can not be reported on your credit report after 7 years, so if it is older than that. This is the reason it is not on there.

As to what you can do. Send them a certified letter stating that the debt is beyond the Statute of Limitations and Credit Reporting Period. That they are to no longer contact you about this debt. Do not sign the letter just type your name. Be sure to get a Return Receipt(Green Card) for proof that they received it. Now, not to say that they will not sell the debt to another company that tries the same thing. If they do just send another letter to the new company.
