This is what my 16 yrsold daughter found on craigslist in KY. She was sooo exicited about her first car and I knew it was too good to be true. I did alot of research and found this website. This is heartbreaking to her cuz I am NOT losing my money so I had to tell her NO. I can't believe ebay and the USAF is allowing people to do this. You would think out of all the top paid officials we have in these 2 very popular companys something would be done. This is the actual post.
Hello,
I`m SSgt. Amanda Henley. You have to know that the 2006 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE 6 Cyl Automatic I am selling is 100% working and great looking, no flaws or dents, no scratches or any kind of damage. The title is clear. It has 54,900 miles. The VIN# is 1N4BA41E46C834227. This vehicle engine runs very, very smooth. No electrical problems on this beauty. This detailed vehicle makes the exterior looks like it just came off the assembly line.
Options:
CD player Anti-lock brakes Driver Airbag Leather Sunroof
Passenger airbag Side airbags Air conditioning Cruise control
Power locks Power windows
Here are the pics of the car:

As I know that my current situation is pretty special I want the deal closed only through eBay's Buyer Protection Program in order for you to be 100% protected. You will make the payment to eBay and they will hold the money until you receive the car. ONLY AFTER you receive the car and inspect it (for 10 days) eBay will release the payment to me; in this way we are both protected. Anyway i am sure that if you won`t be satisfied with the car i will surely find another buyer in your area and there will be no need for you to ship the car back.
I am located in Madrid, Spain and I was sent here to improve the military relationships between USA and Spain. One months ago, my husband moved here with me and brought the car with him, but now we have to sell it back in the United States because we can't register it here; it has US specs and everything, and registering it here in Europe will take for ever.
My final price on it is $1900, but you will only have to pay $950 upfront, plus $62 for the eBay transaction. You will pay the other $950 after receiving and inspecting the car. If you will take it for this price, I am willing to handle the shipping.. It will be shipped from here by plane with US Air Military Cargo so it will not cost me anything. You will get it to the nearest airport in your area and then it will be trucked forward to your place. You will receive the car in about 3 max 4 business days. Please get back to me asap if you decide to buy, and include in your e-mail your full name and address where you want it shipped so I can start the deal with eBay. You will receive all the transaction payment and shipping details from them.
Respectfully,
Amanda Henley

You definitely are doing the right thing by showing your daughter that it is a scam. Our jobs as parents is a little more complicated now than it was 30 years ago or so. Now we have to teach our children what to look out for in these online ads. You spotted the scammer right away because you know what makes sense and what doesn't sound right. Your 16 year old will be disappointed but smarter for having you show her the right way to buy her first vehicle. I can tell you my daughters are on their own now as young adults and they appreciated my teaching them these exact types of lessons. They appreciate having learned the lessons now, not so much when they were 16. But its our job to teach them, not to rescue them.

The scammers have NOTHING to do with the USAF or EBay motors. It would be like you getting mad at Bill Gates because of an E-mail from "Microsoft" saying you won the Internet Lottery. I believe if you actually search this name, it is a real person from the USAF but they were killed a few years ago.
Unfortunately, the best that can do is to have warnings on their legitimate site...just like Craigslist does. Not only on the top of just about every page, but in any e-mail you get from Craigslist.
