My husband and I signed up for a group-on deal at Happy On Hooves and were treated very poorly by stable owner & instructor, Amanda Manown.  Although the web-site states that groups leave at 12:40 hrs, she was rude to us for getting their around 12:30-12:35 (it took 75 minutes to get there)..... stating the group waited over 20 minutes on us.  Since there were 3-4 others in the group I think she was exaggerating and just displeased with the overall turnout numbers.

We eventually got two horses that looked rather famished and seemed to have the most temperamental issues of the group.  My husband's horse was sweating & coughing continuously along the trail; stopping to eat and drink water the entire duration.  We were also not given any instructions or awareness regarding either of our horses temperament prior to the ride.  There is some running/galloping along the trail, which we knew when we signed up, however near the end of the trail, my husband's horse ran awkwardly off-the main path and came up a hill on an angle hitting tree-branches and causing my husband to fall off.  He honestly thinks if he would've fought & tried to remain on the horse any longer, the horse would've have fallen as well.... based on the poor angle it was running and obvious signs it was fatigued and agitated.

The instructor, who was not even aware someone fell (she was well-ahead of everyone), came back after someone told her, and rudely blamed my husband for allegedly causing the horse to do that.  Approx. five minutes later, my horse seemed agitated as well, and bucked me off; I hit my head when I fell but fortunately I was wearing head-protection.  The rest of the group were ahead of me and did not stop until someone in the group saw me trying to get back on my horse.

The instructor, next became very irritated gasping and complaining that someone else had fallen.  My husband and another group member wanted to come back and check on me, but she would not let them.... stating she's fine (an observation she made about me from 100 yards away).  I  basically got back on the horse with no help.

Upon our return to the stable, one of the instructors daughters began laughing when she heard someone (2 members) had fallen.  My husband complained that not even one first aid kit was available, even for scratches from trail-branches.  He also communicated he thought his horse was fatigued and perhaps not healthy enough for the trail.  The instructor sarcastically laughed saying, "what, do you want me to call the horse police".

Basically, Amanda Manown, is rather pretentious regarding her animals health and her own instruction skills; yet very coarse in her customer service skills to guests.  Rather than listen to someone suggest a slight concern about one of her horses, she defers blame to human error (it's the riders fault all the time)..... she thinks she is a great instructor and her horses are in great condition, which is unfortunately false.

She has been ripping people off for years

AUTHOR: Oldenburg Breeder - ()

POSTED: Sunday, February 01, 2015

This person, Amanda Manown, has gone by many names in Maryland and nearby Pennsylvania.  She was known as Amanda Mattriciani at Hanover Equestrian Centre in Glenville, PA, where she was evicted for endangerment to the boarded horses, non-payment of lease, and bad business practices for her horse trading business which reflected badly upon the business owned by a Mrs Rathod-Hardesty.  I was a boarder there when Amanda and her daughter were running the place.  After being evicted from there, she was evicted from 2 other barns in Maryland for similar practices.  She has used many different business names as well.

Amanda Forbes, Amanda Mattriciani, Amanada Manown, Happy On Hooves, Your Next Horse, these are only a few.  Read the other reports on Happy on Hooves, and you will find more names.  She is nothing but a horse trader, and she buys broken down horses from the track and at auction.  There have been several people, including children, who have been hurt on her horses and ones that she's sold.
