I wish that I had found these rip-off reports before I wasted $50 on this service.  My experience is very similar to the one posted above.

I was heart-broken when contractors working at our home left the doors open and my 9-year old Shiba Inu escaped.  I frantically worked to do anything possible to ensure her safe return, including posting on Craigslist.  I received two responses from individuals purporting to be from our area, who indicated that they had used the Amber Pet Alert service and that Amber Pet Alert helped them find their pets when the pets turned up 30 miles away.

I looked at the service online, which advertised that they contact shelters, vets and animal organizations within a 50-mile radius of your home.  I paid my $50 and waited for confirmation of my alert.  I did receive, via e-mail, a copy of the flyer that they said they generated.  One week later, when I had exhausted all avenues of looking for my dog, I decided I would contact Amber Pet Alert, get a list of all organizations contacted as part of my alert, and follow-up with these organizations.  I e-mailed the service and they did not respond.  I e-mailed again with my request and they said it would be processed in 1-2 business days.  Four business days later, I followed up only to be told that my report had definitely been processed, but that they didn't know what happened with my contact list.  "Customer service is our number 1 priority."  I again requested the list and they suggested that it had been lost in my spam box, despite the fact that I had received their other correspondence.  Then they offered to fax me the list.  When I sent my fax number, I received no fax in response.  Again, I had to follow-up and they apologized for the delay, offering me a 50% refund.  They further stated that if I did not receive my report the next day, they would issue a full refund.

I had not received my list the following day and sent yet another e-mail questioning the legitimacy of this service.  They finally sent a list and I was shocked.  They had "contacted" 4 or 5 vets in my area and 8-10 shelters that bore no reasonable proximity to my location.  I'm in Jefferson City, MO and they supposedly contacted shelters in Iowa and Indiana!  I began calling these organizations, only to learn what I already suspected....They had never heard of this service and had received nothing about my dog from Amber Pet Alert.

I have demanded a full refund, but seriously doubt that I will receive one.  The last two weeks have been incredibly painful as we search for a missing member of our family.  That someone would try to profit from this is abhorrent to me and I intend to do everything imaginable, including contacting the state attorney general where they are registered to do business.  I have wasted valuable time looking for my pet, thinking that this service had contacted all of the shelters in the area.  Do not make the same mistake.

Company is a scam

AUTHOR: Kyndrid - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, February 15, 2010

Promises that the company makes:

"Put a poster directly into the hands of a thousand concerned pet owners, agencies and businesses IMMEDIATELY":

FALSE!  I spent 2 months and multiple emails and phone calls where the owner himself personally gauranteed that there were sent.  As of this date, NONE were ever sent.

"We can also provide you with a list of shelters/vets contacted for you to follow up and for verification that the alerts have been received (we guaranee an 99% delivery rate)":

FALSE!  After 2 months of promises to send the list I was told they would not.  After threatening legal action, I finally was able to get them to  send me the list.  In a promised 100 mile radius, they listed 25 vets.

"We broadcast your poster to local Veterinarians, Animal Shelters, Groomers, Animal Control, Police Stations, Media Outlets, Pet Stores and Neighborhood Watch Groups:

FALSE!  Only a few vets were listed.

"Your poster is received by thousands of people, businesses and agencies"

FALSE!  In my situation NOBODY received a poster.  And even if they did send them to the recipient list, it would be a total of 25 people.  Not quite the thousands of people they claim.

COMPANY IS A SCAM!  Please report to the Better Business Bureau and file a Fraud report with the FBI or contact the state attorney general where they are registered.  Consider filing a personal lawsuit if you are one of the many who have been ripped off.

Amber Pet Alert - Liars and Scammers!

AUTHOR: Nanny - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 10, 2009

I also paid for this so called/alleged company to send out fliers.....
Long story short, THEY LIED!!!
They ignore calls and emails, they could not provide any proof of anything they claimed to have sent...I contacted all the places (vets/shelters/pet shops, etc) within the huge radius I paid for (over 100 miles) and no one had been contacted at all. The only 'proof' they provided was an emailed flier...I could do that with one hand tied behind my back wearing a blindfold...they lied, plain and simple, they prey on frantic pet owners with promises to help and they take the money and ignore calls and emails.
I doubt they have had ONE legit customer...the more people complain and get the word out, the better. Other consumers should run the other way, this company will take your money and waste your time, for sure!!!

Hateful e-mails and responses by owners prove illegitimate nature of business

AUTHOR: sbries - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 09, 2009

What I have discovered in my research of this "company" is that the business addresses listed on their site are actually apartment buildings on Park Avenue and homes on Santa Monica Boulevard.  Most of the e-mail addresses from which e-mails are sent are shell addresses and when you try to respond to e-mails, they are returned as undeliverable.  The number provided on my credit card statement is a cell phone with a pre-recorded message indicating no information regarding the name or location of this "business."  And the owner of this company apparently has time to search the internet for ripoff reports, calling his or her customers hateful names.

I am not a malicious person and understood from the beginning that use of this service was not a guarantee that I would find my pet.  I also used findtoto.com, which was a perfectly legitimate service.  It did not bring about the return of my pet, but I have lodged no complaints against findtoto.com and will not do so.  I have filed complaints against Amber Pet Alert because they targeted grieving pet owners through Craigslist e-mails, took our money and provided no service in response.  Given the suspicous practices of this company, it is perfectly reasonable that I would believe the vets and shelters who assured me that they had received nothing from Amber Pet Alert about my dog (as upposed to the unsubstantiated claim from the owner of this website that they were sent).

False Complaint by Grieving Pet Owner

AUTHOR: AmberPetAlert.com - (United States of America)

POSTED: Friday, November 06, 2009

We processed the amber alert to local shelters and vets within a 50 mile radius of the customers home. We provided the contact list to the customer and the response was that they have already contacted these organizations personally and that the other organizations are too far away from the area. (However they are within the Mile Radius selected by the customer). We are not a scam and provide the exact service as explained.
We printed, mailed and provided a full contact list of all organizations alerted.

The owner simply felt that this did not find there pet and wanted a refund. We did provide a full refund as well.

Do not be lead to believe false accusations by a malicious customers.

Out of the thousands of customers and hundreds of success cases we have had very little complaints and they are usually because the pet is still lost and the customer wants a refund. We do have a money back guarantee as well on all services and provide a free lost pet recovery guide to all those who wish to embark on the search alone.
