Aol charged my credit card for a screen name [that was never activated] on MY credit card, it was first on a credt card belong to my fiancee who passed away March 5.
Well,on Feb. 11, 2003 in my home [my son] also has a computer and on this date I called AOL to make sure billing on that scree name was accurate {I at that time did not have personal computer]. And that i was no longer with Verizon phone company {in which payment was on not credit card].
I notified AOL to tell them i was no longer with Verizon and wished to CANCEL AOL services except AIM. Cause my new phone company has internet service included in bill. I was told by rep: CHADemail c.Petri@aol the screen and my son's acct: would be credited 1 month back to billing and 6 "FREE months of AIM" usage, but i was to calling billing by 3/14/02 to get the payments change to creditcard.
At the time of the conversation, i gave him current [mine] creditcard info. Well, March 5,2003 my fiancee died, he was to be buried on march 11, 2003. On the 10, i look out credit card charge on my credit card and to my suprise AOL charged me an amt. of $95.60 and than on 3/10/2003 another amt. for $47.80.
It's astonishing for one thing how i can be charged for a service used on a phone line when i did not have any kind of phone service from December 5, 2002 till Jan 27, 2003 in which i was with differnt phone carrier. I was appalled at the service i received fron AOL trying to resolve this matter.
I thought it was finally resolved on 3/25/03 when spoke to rep.#51481, who told me the $97.50 would be credited back to creditcard and $23.90 would be credited back to c.c.acct. due to fact i signed on son's computer under diffent screename. After 4/24/2003 i would only be billed for use of AIM which is $2.95 amonth. [WHICH IT ADVERTISE--it's free]. But i accepted these terms.
I am still mad cause only the $23.90 was taken of my creditcard and i am getting charded overlimit and late fees on my credit card. No only that THANKS TO AOL-I was not able to EVEN SEND flowers to my fiancee's funeral! I wish aol was never invented! They suck!
