When leaving a Conference in Sacramento California, we were detained, after arriving early for flight #1653. We were not allowed to board the flight with return tickets pre-paid. There was available seating and were forced to stay at the airport for 91/2 hours without an explaination or apology on the return trip to Las Vegas. The bad part about is that the plane was nearly empty!

So far they have not said a word. If anyone else has had the same experience with America West airlines, please post it here. Americans pay good money for travel and should be given better service and treatment.

Confused

AUTHOR: Shelli - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Okay so the airport personnel just decided to detain you and some other passengers and gave you no explanation whatsoever on why they are detaining you. That is the craziest thing I have ever heard in my life. There's got to more to the story than just that Carol. Please explain the whole situation.

Well Let's See

..Last time I checked racism, sexism, are all discriminatory practices. If being part of a very well known legitimate Civil rights group or Christian group makes you laughable or being part of the United States Military is laughable, then it is no wonder so many "REAL TERRORISTS" are laughing at people like you who are getting right past screeners and flying into buildings.

Now think about 9/11, Columbine and some of the recent attacks on the Amish..Now whom do you exactly suppose is a terrorist? No and there were several of us there at that counter and no explaination was made after refusing to allow us to board an almost empty plane. Some prior service military, some current military and out of uniform, others civil rights workers, clergy, social workers, teachers, grandmothers and fathers..I don't believe that fits the profile to be detained for no reason.

Not enough information

AUTHOR: Shannen - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 08, 2006

I don't believe that we have enough information regarding this situation. Airlines don't detain passengers unless a weather or mechanical siutation makes flight unsafe. Sounds like the issue isn't with American West, its with TSA.

Detained?

AUTHOR: Peter - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 29, 2006

First of all, people do not get detained for no reason. The airline had a reason for detaining you, whether or not you chose to divulge that issue here.

Second of all, I would prefer an airline that detains suspicious people versus one that does not, for reasons pertaining to my personal safety. Telling people to avoid this airline because they detain passengers is just plain laughable!
