American Advantage ripoff, Grant Scam over the phone! Winter Park Florida

A foreign speaking man called me stating I had been one of the 200 chosen US people to receive a Government Grant for $12,500. I would only have to pay $49.95 plus a bunch of other charges for grocery coupons, health care benefits etc.

I gave him a hard time about it, asked him a bunch of questions as to why he needed to know how much my husband makes and my account info just so they could send me paperwork. After avoiding the question several times he finally said because "you know how legal documents work" blah blah blah. Then he put the confirmation woman on the phone, and at that point she said the name of the company so while arguing with her a bit I looked the company up on the internet only to find NOTHING good about them, and how it's a scam.

Right then and there I said, "Do NOT proceed, I want to cancel this". Her response was, "Well we already have your acct. info and in order to cx you have to agree to the charges, get a confirmation # then cancel it. We will give you a Customer Service # you can contact if you have any further questions". After over an hour of arguing aganist this, them CALLING ME BACK, being rude, as if I had done something, I gave in and felt very cornered. She assured me that there would be a chance at the end of the call after having to agree to everything that I could just finally say NO to everything. Well, once they got everything, they hung up! No other chance to say no. I immediately called my bank and asked them for help. She said I should get down there and close the acct. Well because I had stuff pending that SHOULD go through (like car registration) we couldln't close the acct. so she BLOCKED "American Advantage" from putting ANYTHING through on my account.

So, don't be fooled by any of these people. And if this happens to you get RIGHT down to the bank and block them or close out the acct. BEFORE they can charge you, as it will be VERY difficult to get it back.
