Whoa, folks... beware of this!!! Do not, I repeat DO NOT sell your American Airlines AAdvantage Miles to a ticket broker or travel agency! I did this but I didn't read the fine print on the American Airlines website and you won't believe what happened to me!

First off, this is NOT in defense of American Airlines. Though I've always been impressed by their "front line people" (pilots, ticket agents, flight attendents, etc) I've never met anyone over the phone from their CORPORATE office who gives a d**n about the customer, and that's the truth!

So I sold my miles to a company that does business on the internet, and sure enough, the company paid a decent price for the miles and I got a check via Fed Ex the very next day, just like the travel agency said. It was a very smooth and above board transaction.

Then a month later I got a nasty letter in the mail from MICHELLE HOUSTON with American Airlines SECURITY! Wow, with all the problems going on these days with REAL security issues, American Airlines unleashed this hard-nosed, monotone and beligerant employee from their "security" department on me!

This woman reads me the riot act, says that I could have been ARRESTED for this in other states, and demands information on how the entire sale went down.

After speaking with a supervisor named "Karen" at the American AAdvantage desk, it got worse. Karen was abusive, and said I deserved to be harrased and that I deserved to get busted for illegally selling airline miles.

TWO THINGS: don't sell your miles, and FLY on ANY airline but American. Continental, Southwest, Delta, Northwest, you name it. Anybody but American!

Look at almost any airline's frequent flier policies. Yes, it may be in the "fine print", but all of them strictly prohibit the selling of frequent flier miles. You admit that you did something against the rules. Is your complaint that you got caught?
