American Benefits Association Called stating that they needed to verify my Mother's identity so that Social Security could send them additional benefits in the amount of $396.10. The asked for her name, address and checking accou New York City, New York

The caller targets senior citizens. They stated they were with American Benefits Assoc. that they work in conjunction with the Better Business Bureau on behalf of the Social Security Administration.  The asked for your name, address and your checking account information, so that they could verify who you are. They claimed they were going to issue a new account number for my elderly Mother.  After I took over the phone call, they became belligerent using profanity and telling me to calm down.

When asked why wouldn't the social security dept send a letter of intent, the response was because there were so many senior citizens and they die everyday, it would be a waste of resources. I made it clear that I know this is a scam and should have hung up but, I was livid.  Fortunately they didn't get the banking account number, I interrupted before it was given out.

These scammers  use broken English and know just enough to take advantage of the susceptible, the elderly.  I was given names Daniel Murphy and Jack Willis both Supervisors. I hung up but the idiot called back and asked if I had hung up, I said no and hung up again.  I called the phone number Jack Willis gave me but it will not go through.  When I checked my caller ID the only number that appeared was 221.  I hope they get caught I hope they call us again so I can use the Police whistle in their ear!
