I signed up for health insurance with this company in August of 2016 when I started a new job with an employer who does not offer health insurance.

On the advice of an associate, I contacted the company to apply for a health policy. It is mandatory that I have health insurance as I have RA (arthritis) and am on Enbrel for my condition. This requires 4 visits per year to a specialist and 3 per year to my GP. I am otherwise healthy and the condition is managed, but the drug is costly as are the bloodtests and visits.

Since acquiring the "insurance" I have gone to my regular visits and assumed all was OK. I started receiving BILLS from my doctors and labtest providers. I contacted Rachel, my agent, to get some explanation. She has been working on it, but I have no resolution.

I have now received yet another bill from a doctor visit, AND have been notified by my specialty pharmacy that my drug is NOT paid for and I will have to apply to the Encourage Foundation (Enbrel) to get benefits, as if I was an indigent person.

To date, I have paid the company $2500 and have not received ANY benefit from it. I was also promised a $100 referral fee for referring a friend who also signed up for your program. It never came.

I am at a point where I am ready to contact the BBB and also a lawyer since I am not getting any answers.  I feel I deserve a refund of this money!

I need to hear something definate about this ASAP or will be forced to take these actions.

I can be reached at (((REDACTED))) anytime. Please leave a message if I cannot answer while at work.

Sincerely,

Sharon Biado

#2 Consumer Suggestion

If your insurance benefits were verified...

AUTHOR: Pay It Forward - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, September 07, 2017

1. If your insurance was re-verified on each Date of Service (DOS) including Rx purchase, like we should always do ourselves if not provider office can't verify on the phone on the same day as the DOS, then you have a strong case that you could compare the cost of reputable Insurance Adjusters versus Attorneys. Choose carefully--especially Adjusters! Some are rip-offs. I always look for kindly consumer reviews on HealthGrades, Vitals, free Angie's List, Yelp.com, and ask our community on NextDoor.com)

2. Explore whether your plan is a STM--Short Term Medical--and if you didn't qualify/or don't know you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) before the upcoming November 1-December 15, 2017 Open Enrollment Period (OEP) (see Healthcare.gov) to purchase Comprehensive Medical Insurance covering Pre-Existing Conditions now from govt or private companies for 2018.

3. Is your current plan Indemnity or PPO? Are your providers supposed to be submitting invoices to your insurance company or to you to mail to your insurer for reimbursement?

4. What are the coded reasons on the Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) that your insurance company should be sending you explaining their payments and/or refusals to pay? (Codes are explained at bottom of invoices.)

5. Explore Healthcare.gov SEP to see if you're eligible now for an SEP to purchase Comprehensive Medical Insurance from govt or directly from a private company instead of waiting for November 1, 2017 OEP for 2018.

Enbrel Assistance

AUTHOR: Kalena Taylor - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 21, 2017

I'm a licensed insurance agent, I do not work for the company you are filing the complaint about. I just wanted to give you some information on Enbrel. You can go to prescriptionhope.com and order directly through and have your Enbrel delivered to you for $35 a month. I would be more than happy to help you. You need a marketplace plan, that's the only plan that covers Pre-existing conditions, unfortunately you won't be able to qualify unless you've had a qualifing event in the last 60 days. I'll be praying for you, RA is really tough.
