American Cash Awards Company Attempted rip-off thawrted New York New York

 I received a phone call to my home telling me that I had been awarded the major sum of $550,000.  He asked me how I felt about that? I picked up a pencil and paper and started writting everything that was said to me.

When I asked who the award was from the man said the American Cash Awards Company.

I then asked him what my obligation was since I was receiving a reward.  He said that there was no obligation as my name had been picked at random as a buyer from a major company such as WalMart, or ?  However, there was a small processing fee that I would need to pay for handling of $499.00.  I said that I would be glad to do this once I had the awarded amount in hand.

He said that he understood that and that I should go to CSV or ? ? and buy a Green Dot money scratch card for $499 and then I  could give this to them when I received the cash.

I told him that I was not fimiliar with his company and he said he understood and asked me to call 1-876-843-8982 and give them his name (John Anderson) and the person would confirm the offer and validate that he was authorized to provide this information to me.

He told me that he was calling from New York and that his number was 315-289-1788.  I was to call him back after I had called and confirmed the offer so he could make the necessary arrangements to deliver the funds to me.

I thanked him and hung up.

I then googled the American Cash Awards Company and found that there were quite a number of issues related to their reliability.  The Rip off Report had 80+ reports on them as a scam.  I also called my daughter and she told me that her neighbor was recently called by them and she called them back.  They kept her on the line for an hour and the phone company charged her for the call.  Her husband finally told her to hang up as he was sure it was a scam.

I did not call him back, but posted this notice.
