I receive a letter from this debt collector stating that this account had been placed with them for collections. Back in 2002, the Original creditor filed a small claims judgment against me. Trial was in January 2003 and I won the judgment. How can this debt collector get away with this and what should I do.

Just because you won the case, does NOT mean that you don't owe the debt. All that means is the person who filed the judgment either didn't show, or didn't have proof the account was yours ect. . . You "winning" the case simply states that !! That does not give you the right to continue to not pay the bill, rightfully, it's still your account.
