I was contacted by a man that claimed to be James Baker from the Federal Trade Commission. He notified me that I had been informed by mail some time ago that I was a second place winner of a sweep stakes called "American Direct Sweepstakes". He said should contact them at 1-800-342-3995 or 702-583-7022 about my winnings. He said his name was James Baker from the Federal Trade Commission and that he could be contacted at 202-629-9382.

I looked up James Baker on the Internet and found several references that indicate a different number for him and they were from several different years including 2009 so I assume the number I was given is false. This so called James Baker called again later saying that I would be removed from the list if I didn't call the American Direct number. How would he know that if he was the real James Baker, Acting Chief Financial Officer for the Federal Trade Commission?

I hope that these phone numbers might help someone catch these "rip-off artists". I keep calling the 1-800 number to see what they will say but haven't gotten an answer. I expect they think I will call their collect number but I won't.
"If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."
