AMR Long Distance - American Fone - Direct One Credit Card Charge - Ripoff

In trying to track down an unrecognized $61.02 charge to my American Express card, I went through many phone numbers and company names:

Listed on my credit card - AMR*LONG_DISTANCE_SV 800-429-1707
Calling result - answering machine with no return call

Company name from AmEx was listed as American Fone 8730 W Sunset Blvd #290 W Hollywood CA 90069 210-854-3500

Called that number and reached (after a long time in the voice mail queue) "LD Calling Plan outsourced customer support" who said they had no details of the transaction but could give me a phone number where they would. In spite of this, he took my phone number and said they would credit my card.

Called 800-665-5276 - result was contact with Direct One who wanted my credit card information (which I wasn't much in the mood to give them after all this run around!). After taking my phone number and that from a previous address, she said she would credit my account. She also asked if I had made a purchase from Cornerstone, which doesn't ring a bell either.

Called AmEx back and disputed the charge since I don't have a great deal of confidence that this credit will happen.
